All Austins from 1939 got a more rounded nose, replacing the flat grille with horizontal bars rather than the previous vertical bars and bonnet now hinged at the rear. In this era the different models of Austin referred to their horsepower rating, but it was not a true reflection of the power of the vehicle, instead it was the result of a calculation to determine the excise duty payable for the vehicle. Also available; 12, 14, 18 and 20 hp models. They were replaced in 1947 by the A70 Hampshire
Engine; 2199cc 4 cyl
