Anwendungsbeispiel

Verwendet ist die bekannte Trisectrix von Colin Maclaurin aus dem Jahr 1742.

Im Kartesischen Koordinatensystem wird diese Kurve beschrieben mit der Gleichung

${\displaystyle 2x(x^{2}+y^{2})=a(3x^{2}-y^{2})}$,

durch Umformung ergibt sich die Gleichung für die Implizite Kurve

${\displaystyle 2x^{3}+2xy^{2}-a3x^{2}+y^{2}=0}$

Dreiteilung eines Winkels

Zuerst wird der Durchmesser ${\displaystyle {\overline {AB}}}$ mit seinem Mittelpunkt ${\displaystyle M}$ bestimmt. Es folgt der Halbkreis ${\displaystyle MBA}$ mit der anschließenden Generierung der Trisektrix als Implizite Kurve^[1]. Somit ist die Grundkonstruktion für die Dreiteilung von Winkel ${\displaystyle 0^{\circ }<\alpha \leq 180^{\circ }}$ fertiggestellt. Nun wird der zweite Winkelschenkel ${\displaystyle {\overline {MC}}}$ so eingezeichnet, dass er mit dem ersten Winkelschenkel ${\displaystyle {\overline {MB}}}$ den zu teilenden Winkel ${\displaystyle \alpha }$ einschließt. Der Winkelschenkel ${\displaystyle {\overline {MC}}}$ schneidet die Trisektrix in ${\displaystyle D}$. Als Nächstes wird ein gerade Linie von ${\displaystyle A}$ durch ${\displaystyle D}$ bis zum Halbkreis gezogen, dabei ergibt sich der Schnittpunkt ${\displaystyle E}$. Der von ${\displaystyle {\overline {BA}}}$ und ${\displaystyle {\overline {AE}}}$ eingeschlossene Winkel ${\displaystyle \beta }$ ist der gesuchte Winkel ${\displaystyle {\frac {1}{3}}\alpha }$.

Angle trisection

First, the diameter ${\displaystyle {\overline {AB}}}$ with its center ${\displaystyle M}$ is determined. This is followed by the semicircle ${\displaystyle MBA}$ with the subsequent generation of the trisectrix as the implicit curve^[1]. Thus, the basic construction for the angle trisection of angles ${\displaystyle 0^{\circ }<\alpha \leq 180^{\circ }}$ is completed. Now, the second angle limb ${\displaystyle {\overline {MC}}}$ is drawn in such a way that it encloses with the first angle limb ${\displaystyle {\overline {MB}}}$ the angle ${\displaystyle \alpha }$ to be divided. The angle limb ${\displaystyle {\overline {MC}}}$ intersects the trisectrix in ${\displaystyle D}$. Next, a straight line from ${\displaystyle A}$ is drawn through ${\displaystyle D}$ to the semicircle, resulting in the intersection ${\displaystyle E}$. The angle ${\displaystyle \beta }$ generated by ${\displaystyle {\overline {BA}}}$ and ${\displaystyle {\overline {AE}}}$ is the angle ${\displaystyle {\frac {1}{3}}\alpha }$ sought.
