Original file(1,195 × 1,200 pixels, file size: 1.71 MB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Description

This is a Krishna deity relief at Hazare Rama Temple, or temple celebrating thousand avatars of Vishnu, one of many Hindu temples at Hampi Vijayanagara Karnataka.

These bas reliefs, carved before the arrival of Islam in South Asia, show a spectrum of musical instruments, dance mudras (pose), arts, dress and other cultural elements of Hindus in Vijayanagar Karnataka India.

The deity image was one of the many damaged/razed in 1565 by a Muslim Sultanate army attack on Hindu Vijayanagar empire.
