- Comment: The references provided do not establish notability for this particular mural. Passages such as "the mural has become a notable landmark in Bend" are dubious considering that the mural was only finished a couple of months ago. Given that the artists have created some 60 murals like this, I'm doubtful that each one will meet our notability guidelines. gobonobo + c 01:34, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: I'd still like to see some better referencing, with in-line citations. The guideline is at WP:ILC and as mentioned before the tutorial is at WP:INTREFVE.Right now as the sources are hanging at the bottom of the page its difficult to know what part of the article is sourced from what reference. Please also remove the Copyright Information link, which is irrelevant for Wikipedia. - Comment: Please check out WP:NPOV and the tutorial on in-line citations at WP:INTREFVE so you can fix this draft. Qcne (talk) 09:04, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

Background
editThe Greetings from BEND Mural is located in Bend, Oregon and is associated with the Greetings Tour project, a series of murals inspired by vintage postcards across the United States. The project is led by Artist Victor Ving and Photographer Lisa Beggs.[1]
In response to the global pandemic in 2020 and its impact on local tourism[2],particularly in smaller American cities[3], the Greetings Tour introduced an annual mural grant program.[4] The objective was to support these cities through the medium of art. The Downtown Bend Business Association applied for the grant in 2021 and was selected, leading to the creation of the mural on the south-facing wall of the Downtown Bend Chase branch, situated between Lava Rd. and Tin Pan Alley.[5]
This mural is Oregon's first contribution to the Greetings Tour, reflecting both the cultural significance and community aspirations of Bend.
Design
editThe mural, inspired by postcards from the 1930s to 1950s[6], features elements symbolic of Bend's identity:
- B - Represents Pilot Butte (Oregon) and the city's 4th of July celebrations.
- E - Symbolizes the historic Tower Theatre (Bend, Oregon).
- N - Highlights local artistic collaborations, with a nod to Vivi Design Co.
- D - Portrays the serenity of the Drake Park Neighborhood Historic DistrictMirror Pond.
Significance
editBeyond its aesthetic value, the mural has become a notable landmark in Bend, drawing attention from both residents and visitors.[7] The mural serves not only as a visual representation of the city's cultural elements but also as a testament to the collaborative efforts of artists, sponsors, and the community at large.[8]
