Background

edit

Nutopia is a conceptual country created and announced by John Lennon and Yoko Ono.[2] The song was created as the anthem to the country created by the two.[3] The concept of a song with just silence was not the first time Lennon would experiment with this concept, as he would release a song called Two Minutes Silence on the album Unfinished Music No. 2: Life wIth the Lions.[4]

Reception

edit

Authors Ben Urish and Ken Bielen said the song might work as a theme of a unified theme or principle of the album.[5]

Position on Mind Games

edit

The song closes the first side of the Mind Games album after Bring On the Lucie (Freda Peeple) and before Intuition on the second side of the album.[6]
