General Assembly of the National Committee of Brazilian Art

The General Assembly of the National Committee of Brazilian Art (in Portuguese: A Assembleia Geral do Comitê Nacional de Arte Brasileira) is the deliberative body of the National Committee of Brazilian Art responsible for strategic and policy decisions for the development of the arts in Brazil, established on July 15, 2010, by Decree No. 005/2010.[1][2]

With 27 members elected every six years, each representing a Brazilian state, the assembly approves guidelines, projects, and programs to promote culture, in addition to contributing to the formulation of public policies oriented towards the arts.[3]

History

The General Assembly of the National Committee of Brazilian Art, established on July 15, 2010, by Decree No. 005/2010 by Fausto Cavalcante Leal, held its first election on August 10, 2010, electing 27 members from all Brazilian states, each with an initial six-year term and the right to consecutive re-elections. In 2016, during the second election, new members were elected and former members were re-elected.[4]
