Introduction edit

Welcome to the Wikiatholon! The premise of this competition is for Wikipedians to showcase their skills in at least five of seven categories per round, in much the same way that athletes compete in a pentathlon. There are no bonus points, and competitors are required to work solo and without the benefit of teamwork or excessive help from others.

Categories and points edit

There are eight categories. Competitors are required to meet their quota in at least five cats per round. The cats are editor choice, meaning they choose at least five of the eight available options to achieve the point quota needed to advance.

Rounds edit

There will be three rounds of 10 weeks each and a finals that is also 10 weeks long, or 40 total weeks (January 1 to September 30). Competitors are required to earn points from five of the ten categories. For example:

Round 1: 50 points needed to advance

Competitors will earn 50 points from five categories of their choice. Each competitor who completes all five categories advances to the next round, where the point quota is increased. For example:

Round 2: 75 points needed to advance

Competitors will earn 75 from five categories of their choice.

Round 3: 100 points needed to advance

Competitors will earn 100 points from five categories of their choice. Finals: Winner is determined by total points.

After completing five categories in the final round, competitors may acquire additional points in categories of their choosing. A winner is declared based on total points.
