Battle of Belgium

Hey Coldplay Expert. I saw that you had listed Battle of Belgium as needing a review at the Wikicup page. I'm no expert in this field, but I've conducted a GAN review and left my comments at the review page. The review is currently on hold until my comments can be address, so please take a look at them when you can. I'm sure they can be addressed quickly and the article can be passed well before the first Wikicup round ends. Nice work, and thanks! — Hunter Kahn 00:52, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

  • Thanks for addressing the concerns so quickly! I've passed the article. Congrats! — Hunter Kahn 04:36, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
I'll have to get back to you in a week or so; I'm very busy until Friday, so I'll have more to say then. I've added you to a template on the talk page. Dapi89 (talk) 19:07, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll be adding a few sources in the next few days. I can't belive that the article is missing Shirer!--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 19:36, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

DYK

Thanks for reviewing articles at DYK. However, please note that the requirement is for 1500 characters of prose, not 1500 words (see WP:DYK#Selection criteria under "Long enough"). Ucucha 03:39, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

No problem. By the way, User:Shubinator/DYKcheck.js is helpful in reviewing DYKs; it automatically checks some of the DYK criteria (although you still need your own judgment, of course, especially in more complex cases). Ucucha 03:44, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello Coldplay Expert.
Could you please tell me if anything was wrong with my edits to this article? I added missing details to Ref. # 9. See DIFF. I will 'fix' Refs. 10 and 11 too if possible.220.101.28.25 (talk) 04:44, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

DYK Help

Hello CE! I would like to nominate an article for DYK but have never been involved in the process. I thought about putting a more informal post on the DYK template talk but everything seems nice, neat, and formal so I didn't want to go messing it up. I noticed User:Rentzepopoulos has done a ton of work on the eGovernment in Europe which he recently moved from his namespace, and I thought DYK would be an appropriate place to recognize his hard work. The subject matter is not that terribly interesting so I was hoping you or anyone else involved with DYK could look over it and see if they could pick out a good fact, since you would have a better eye for what makes a good DYK than me. I've noticed your fairly busy around here so if you have another editor in mind you'd rather me send this message to that would also be fine. Thanks! Beach drifter (talk) 15:14, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello. I have read over the article and while it covers the topic very well, I can only think of hooks for individual nations. Not the whole organization itself. I did find one interesting fact that could be used as a hook that covers the whole EU, but it is unsourced. If you can get Rentzepopoulos to add another citation to the last sentence of the introduction, a good DYK hook could be nominated and passed on to the main page. You may also want to ask for a second opinion from a few other DYK reviewers to see if they can find anything. Thanks.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 22:20, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Extremely, painfully, minor issue

Sorry for the unimportance of this. Hardly worth looking at. I was just thinking, would it be worth linking "escape from Dunkirk" at the end of Battle of Hannut's lead section to Evacuation at Dunkirk? I don't know much about World War II (although I have absorbed several random snippets of text, such as "...after an unsuccessful attempt to overthrow the German government in 1923, became...", or "...the Allies had significant advantages in population..." which keep popping into my mind periodically, probably from fixing all those WWII refs), so I thought I should ask first. Wasn't entirely sure if it was an accurate enough link, or if it's too vague or whatever. I didn't want to seem all uneducated and ignorant and wrong...again, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 10:55, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

First off, I think that its a bit funny that your getting all of these random WWII fact in your head because of all of those citation fixes. To be honest, this may be a good thing later on in life. If your a minor, this would help out in college, and if not, well it does'nt hurt. Now as for the question, yes we sould link it. Thanks for pointing that out. your not wrong at all. There was only one operation dynamo, or escape from Dunkirk.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 13:33, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
I suppose it could be beneficial. A bit like getting your thumb cut off...well, not really. I'll go link that, if you haven't already, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 14:14, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Done Thanks! Question about one of your criteria: when you say you might support if candidates answer all opposes in a civil manner, do you mean that they should be civil every time they answer an oppose, or are you also considering it a positive if they address each and every oppose?--~TPW (trade passing words?) TPW is the editor formerly known as otherlleft 02:59, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

No, if they are civil with every oppose. They don;t have to reply to ever one!--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 03:02, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
That's what I thought, but it's amazing how slippery an idea becomes once you commit it to words! I generally believe candidates should address any particular oppose reason no more than once regardless of how many people weigh in.--~TPW (trade passing words?) RFA

Olive branch, pleasantries, etc, what did you think of my answers to your questions? --King Öomie 03:36, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

I do like the answers to your questions but I would like to see a bit less contraversial edits to articles like that. It makes me nervous to give the mop to people who almost break the 3RR. (Look, I've done it before as well but I have never gone u for an RFA) I'll still be paying close attention at your RFA and I still wish you the best with it's outcome. Just because I oppose it does not mean that you would not make a good amdin.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 11:55, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
I must admit, I'm surprised at your phrasing, Coldplay Expért: No I mean that something is wrong when 23 people support a guy that has 776 edits to articles and edit wars on a very contraversial topic. As well as haveing a personal agenda against it. Not the best RFA candidate IMHO - are you trying to say that those of us who are supporting (33 now) are all wrong, and you (and the other 5 who are opposing) are right? Please note that I am not saying that you are wrong (we've just got different viewpoints here, that's all!) - but you seem to be saying that we are wrong to support.
My take on those diffs that you provided were that Kingoomieiii was merely trying to keep to a previously agreed concensus. Yes, the Creation/Creation Myth area is controversial/contentious - but does that mean that admins can't edit such things? Surely, if Kingoomieiii has assured us that he would not use the tools in these circumstances, can't you AGF? Anyway, that's just my 0.02 - I thought it was more suitable for this page than on the RfA itself. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 12:56, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
No, I was'nt saying that you alla re wrong and I'm right. I was saying that I thnk thats it's very odd that he has (now 33) supports and yet he has very little edits to articles. And regardless of his motives (which I find suspicious) that does not excuse edit waring. I'm not saying that he can't edit the article in question but rather that he has a personal agenda behind it. I'll AGF when he makes good on his promises.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 21:24, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Is it possible that they simply have different priorities and don't care that I'm not the article-writing type?
And it would seem to me that once I prove I'm using the admin tools in good faith, it's a little late to assume I'm using them in good faith. --King Öomie 21:30, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
No, there's always de-adminship. Now can we end this. I'm not changeing my !vote for this RFA. Not to say that i'm close minded but the things that you would need to do for me to change my !vote takes more than 4-5 days.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 21:33, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
De-adminship? Hmmm....... ? Pedro :  Chat  21:36, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
That's fine, I didn't expect you to. --King Öomie 21:38, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
  • May I recommend you take a short while to calm down before further responding at the RFA? Tossing "WTF" and such around is a little over the top and will not help discussion. Hope this helps, and happy editing to you, --Taelus (talk) 21:42, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Hey there, Taelus. FYI: Telling someone to 'calm down' is provocative. You don't really want them to calm down, you want to tick them off. So don't say that. Also, Coldplay has every right to oppose someone's RFA just as others are free to support it. And Kingoomieiii, best of luck to you, but note also, Coldplay gave a very reasoned and thoughtful answer to you.Malke2010 07:56, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
Actually, at no point did I point out that I disagree with their oppose. Infact, I support their viewpoint, and their right to express their point of view. I merely wanted to avoid any confrontational situations developing. However, as it seems that this is not what will happen, I will step aside and not get further involved. I would however ask that in future you avoid placing words in my mouth, I am not a person that would attempt to annoy/distress others intentionally and I feel that your accusation that I am attempting to stir up the situation by wanting to "tick off" Coldplay Expert is assuming bad faith of me. --Taelus (talk) 09:09, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
It's not bad faith as much as it's long experience with what gets posted here, but you are correct Taelus, I misread what you were saying, and I apologize. I will also do so on your talk page.Malke2010 22:50, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
Can all of you get off of my case please? Have I insulted or offended anyone? I don;t think so but If I have then I apologise. I only said "WTF" because someone supported per me. That made no since considering that I opposed. No how about you all stop critisizeing my oppose and my rational too? I never said anything that was offensive nor rude.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 01:16, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
You haven't offended anyone. You've given an honest and reasonable answer. Good job.Malke2010 07:57, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
It's ... not complimentary when someone supports per your oppose. In my experience it means either your rationale in their view is so cockeyed that they feel it is a reason to go the other way, or that the very fact that you in particular opposed is enough to make them want to jump to the other side. Of course there may be other reasons too. It's not very civil in my view.--Wehwalt (talk) 23:03, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
Not very civil for who? Wehwalt, the lawyer in you is coming out and the epidemiologist in me is saying, do you have numbers to back that up? LOL. Malke2010 23:22, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
If someone says they are supporting per someone else's oppose, they are likely being a jerk and trying to get a reaction. Best to say nothing about it.--Wehwalt (talk) 23:38, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Incidentally, CE, with my article Nikita Khrushchev on mainpage for the next 24 hours I'd welcome eyes on it against vandalism and unhelpful edits. Thought you might be willing to keep an eye on whenever you have a spare moment.--Wehwalt (talk) 23:46, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Waiting in Line

I’m sorry, I haven’t heard of it. Have you heard the song or might it be on YouTube? There is every possibility that it could be just an early version of Shiver, like Spiderwebs was an early version of Trouble, neither should count as separate songs unless there's significant difference between them. “I’ll wait in line” was also a lyric in Parachutes the song, in case something has stemmed from that. There do seem to be rather a lot of unreleased songs on that page, quite a few of which I have never heard of. Can they all be verified? Officially Mr X (talk) 17:53, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Okay I haven't heard of these:
1. Firstly, "Mooie Ellebogen", which is listed as a released song from "Clocks"?
2. In fact, here are the songs I have actually heard extracts to, so I know definitely exist: A Ghost, Bloodless Revolution, Bucket for a Crown, Christmas Lights, Harmless, Idiot, Ladder to the Sun, Lukas, Ode to Deodorant, Solid Ground, So Sad, Sweet Marianne, The Dubliners, Wedding Bells, Where Is My Boy? and Your Love Means Everything, Part 2.
3. These are the songs I am aware of being listed in Prospekt notes or on video clips: 1000 - 1, Car Kids, Cartoon Head, Cartoon Heart, Drunks and Guns, Famous Old Painters, First Steps, Gardeners on the Frontline, If All Else, If I Ever Fall in Love Again, In Isolation, Leftrightleftrightleft, Love in a Lethal Dose, Loveless, Mining on the Moon, Spanish Rain, St. Stephen, The Fall of Man, The Man Who Swears and Vitamins.
4. So these are new to me: A View from the Top, Blasphemy, Call Me, December, Deserter, Déjà Vu, Echo My Name (I Can't Believe You're Gone), Eyes for Eyes, Fingers Crossed, Fury, Goodbye and Goodnight, If She Comes Back, Love I'm So Tired, School, Someone to Love, Something Ain't Right, The Blue Room (never knew it was intended as a song), The Butterfly, This Hollow Frame, Turn Your World Around, (Waiting in Line) and Your World's Turned Upside Down.
(all from List of Coldplay songs#Unreleased songs) Thanks. Officially Mr X (talk) 10:18, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
