Pointless Disneyland links

Looks like 71.116.162.179 is adding links to Disneyland articles to a website called "Original D" and I'm pretty sure those links add nothing new to the articles. --blm07 23:32, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey everybody. I finally figured out how this site works and what it is for. I am very sorry for adding the links to Original D everywhere. I was getting frustrated because some links were staying that seemed to be pointless or had nothing to do with the attraction while the Original D links had Hidden Mickey Locations, Tips, and a Video of every attraction that I added it to. I won't do this again, I really apologize for the mass spamming. I would like everyone to consider the edit I made on 5/14/08 on the Disneyland Park main page. I don't know how to link to it, I'm sorry. Sources of roller coaster data

I'd normally ask the head of the roller coaster wikiproject this, but he's on a long wikibreak. I've seen you around quite a bit, so maybe you'll have some insight on my question.

Currently, we use RCDB as a reliable source for roller coaster data. But what if a coaster's data on RCDB doesn't match up with its data on the park's official website? I've seen this happen in several cases. Which should be used as a more reliable source?

Perhaps the park that owns the coaster would know best -- then again, their website might be more concerned with marketing and "round numbers" than accuracy.

I know RCDB is concerned with accuracy, but there are probably still mistakes if they've acquired numbers second-hand: their site says, "The rcdb's data was compiled from a plethora of sources: Usenet, Internet, amusement parks, roller coaster manufacturers and enthusiasts."

Is there a consensus on this? Please reply on my talk page. I've posed the same question to a few other active editors of coaster articles, so I can get several people's input and not just one.

Incidents at Disney parks

Re: The mention of motion sickness in the above article

I agree that a mention of motion sickness incidents can be of interest to the reader. However, the article does not mention anything about subsequent orange or green lines, as well as such ride changes not being the scope of the article. The article only deals with medical incidents.

Many, many rides at Disney cause motion sickness, yet none others rate a mention. This would make mentioning it for the Space ride inconsistent with the rest of the article.

As I said, I do agree that it is noteworthy. But perhaps it is better suited to the article about the Mission: Space ride itself instead of a periphery article that deals with a more generalised topic.

Hihi, the scene you keep deleting is shown in the trailers, any reason that you can't take it to the talk page now that the article has survived AfD? There are a lot of articles on WP that we may not like or approve of, but taking stuff out of an article with a somewhat rude edit summary isn't the way to gain consensus. I Don't Belieeeeve IIIT!

I am Tobyphoby and I am totally outraged and apalled that you got rid of a perfectly valid story about Mr Mcpherson, 97 at the time, and still fighting strong to this day. Mickey was in the seat behind him and was accused to have stabbed him. I was there when this event occured and the atmosphere was electric as blood poured from Mr Mcpherson's back and Mickey was handcuffed while Pluto watched on in horror. It was unforgettable and to delete that section within a minute is utterly butterly trampy! So please bring it back. It doesn't need any references: The story speaks for itself. confusion

Now I'm just plain confused. Regardless of whether it's The Hill School or Hotchkiss School, what, exactly, does this mean? I ask more out of curiosity now than anything else. Okay, we are speaking the same language then. I was actually quoting the bottom part of the naming conventions to begin with, because it explicitly addresses the use of The in the university article names (indicating that, generally, The should be avoided). Like you, I was extrapolating that to refer to high schools, too, although for a different end, I think. Copyrighted photographs and NFCC

To be honest, I'm not sure what kind of images could be added either, but the question we should always ask is, "Does the image show anything unique about the incident that can't be expressed through text?" If the image is descriptive enough, (say, showing a derailed rollercoaster), it may qualify. I'm not sure how much my response helps you, but I deal better with specifics than generalities... which gets me to the Fabio picture.

My belief is that the Fabio picture probably qualifies as fair use, since the video/images of the incident was as much of the story as the incident itself (especially since it left a pretty nasty gash on a guy whose fame is based on his looks), but I haven't been able to find a source to back this point. Then again, it might be enough to provide a descriptive illustration of the incident.

Wide World of Sports

(a duplicate of how I replied on my talk page) I did ... it lies within the northwest quadrant of the interchange of I-4 and US 192, something Disney has owned and controlled almost since day 1. It lies within the boundaries of the Reedy Creek Improvement District, another sign that it's on Disney-owned and Disney-controlled property. A few days ago, I did modify the location subhead in the WDWR article to mention that WWoS and the All-Star Resorts were located in Osceola County, something that is not in question. This edit war (which even I got warned about) is again about how one editor wants things to be listed when a group of editors has already established how that will be discussed.

If you read Simon's posts, he says WWoS lies some 15 minutes away from the resort, which is patently not true. While WWoS is in Osceola County, it is still well within WDW's borders. Hopefully this can be resolved peacefully, going forward ... but somehow I doubt it.

declined - semiprot disney princess

Hello. You stated that there wasn't enough disruptive edits to warrant semi-protecting the page (I'm sure we can deal in the meantime). Considering that the last few days have had 7 reverts of the nonsense data by these IPs, I merely ask what is the number of edits that is required before it becomes disruptive? In an ideal world, of course, the "this is your last warning before being blocked" messages on those IP talk pages would be heeded, but that doesn't seem to be the case - hence my question. It is not so much a number of edits as a frequency. Because Wikipedia is a wiki, page protection is considered harmful. As such, semi-protection is only used when pages are vandalized to the extent that reverting them is taking time away from other activities. Two or three reverts a day doesn't usually meet that criterion, although exceptions are made for high-visibility pages. Stifle (talk) 08:26, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

WALL-E

How are you Spike? In my sandbox, I've been rewriting the WALL-E article to be more comprehensive. Later this week I'll receive the Blu-ray and afterwards forage from some of the citations I used in the current revision. Do you mind advising the structure?

On the one hand, I could write the article like Transformers where information on how each character was designed and animated is put with the cast list, or I could do it like 300 where I list the cast in like a narrow place under Plot. Fixed it!

Hi, Spike. I went ahead and replaced the info in the Cars article on Lightning McQueen's encounter with the railroad crossing but with a reference and without the slightly OR-sounding text. Whoever animated those signals was either intimately familiar with them or they really did their homework. The look like real Magnetic Flagman upper-quadrant signals and start up exactly the same way. I helped restore and install a couple of these at the Orange Empire Railway Museum a few years ago and that slow startup is exactly how they operate. Anyway, I thought I'd let you know what I'd done. Good point. I'm not saying that the filmmakers were inspired by that crossing in Richmond, only that it's the closest thing to the crossing in the movie. The details certainly hint that they may have researched it through that site I cited, but that's speculation. There used to be several double upper-quadrants in Los Angeles along Alameda Street, but they were all removed when the Alameda Corridor went through. Oddly, there's no picture of an upper-quadrant wigwag in the wigwag article, so I thought the reference would kill two birds with one stone. Feel free to remove the reference if you wish. It was just a bit of minutiae that the train geek in me couldn't resist adding, especially since I only recently saw the movie in its entirety. The Mirage Volcano

I would have to disagree that the previous posting of "periodically" is adequate and that the times are not definitive. For one thing, they are definitive. All you have to do is call the general information line for The Mirage and they'll tell you - as I did. Secondly, adding specific times makes Wikipedia a more complete and accurate resource and does not start making it a travel guide. Pixar template

Since Carter and 1906 are technically not Pixar productions, should Lasseter, Bird and Stanton have their own templates now? I think we could move the Buzz Lightyear spin-offs to just the Toy Story template, while keeping that short Lasseter made before Pixar was formed in his template, and then the live action films in Bird and Stanton's templates. You removed JCOM from the template, and although it is not a Pixar film there are Pixar staff working on it at the Emeryville lot. It was placed there because Stanton doesn't have his own template. But removing that and the spin-offs would render an entire section to one link, unless you are willing to relent about it not officially being a Pixar short because it was made before it was sold to Jobs and place it under Shorts. Movie City News

Hello SpikeJones. You removed several Metacritic citations about top ten lists from the articles Funny Games (2008 film) [1], Man on Wire [2], Milk (film) [3], Frost/Nixon (film) [4], and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (film) [5] — replacing those citations with citations to Movie City News. Wikipedia doesn't have an article for Movie City News, and I don't know how reliable a source it is. I think it's fine if you want to cite it in film articles, since it apparently tracks more lists, but please don't remove the citations to Metacritic, which is considered a reliable source. Hello Spike Jones. I have added some external links to interviews that you have reverted and would like to discuss the validity of their inclusion. There are a number of interviews that The Drew Marshall Show has done and has archived that would be of interest to and benefit the readers researching certain celebrity bio's on Wikipedia. They are a collection of free audio interviews for anyone who wishes to listen. I'm not trying to promote the web site or sell anything, no money or promotion will be made from this. These are just interviews with celebrities containing autobiographical information, specifically religious or spiritual beliefs, that pertain to information in the respective articles, where comments have been made about the religious beliefs of a specific celebrity. I think these interviews would be helpful to those researching through Wikipedia. I use wikipedia all the time and woul dfind the inclusion of such material very helpful and trustworthy (since the information comes from the person themselves). With all due respect, that reference I listed is relevant and I actually listed a reference. If you watch any old Universal show from the 70s, all the vehicles have that "PCE in the licence plate. • JoedyBoston only does Sfcrowsnest related edits. There's no rule against that. He/she may well have a strong interest in the site. I don't worry about COI too much as long as someone's edits are NPOV.
• TheCharmingMan only does Sfcrowsnest related edits but also went beyond NPOV with the removal of the {{Notability}} hat from Sfcrowsnest and adding the same hat to SF Site and Locus (magazine). --Marc Kupper|talk 22:05, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Hey Spike. Dealing with a recurrent IP vandal ... it's the same IP over and over again, and he's gotten blocked at least 3-4 times, all in the same articles. Asian American Character

I did find a referenced review that identifies Russell as Asian American, though it is obvious from the way the character is drawn. The lack of Asian parts is a major Asian American issue, as is on wikipedia the bias towards removing any attempt to establish the notability of Asian American issues. (Asian person murdered, Asian character in movie, etc) I have removed the anonymous speculation, though it supports the notion that Pixar was actually seeking to make the part an Asian child. Perceived Personal Attacks

I apologize if you believe I have made any personal attacks on you in the discussion regarding Tinker Bell, or other lists. It was not my desire to attack you personally; I am just trying to create more uniformed and usable lists between the various pages that treat all films equally and appropriately throughout. There appears to be a conflict between how The Brave Little Toaster and Tinker Bell are being treated in these lists. I am not sure that the stance that Tinker Bell was not released theatrically is valid, as the resources listed show that it did have a small run with paying customers. While I will admit that there are number of pay-per-view films (of course, one could argue that all films are pay-per-view), most run for one or two performance; not for two weeks in an established theater. Recently, it appears that you all have been interested in the various Disney discussions regarding the proper categorization of Disney animated films. There has been recent activity regarding the proper structure of the various Disney feature length film lists. Unfortunately the discussions regarding the lists / pages are taken place on a number of talk pages. Before we get further into a long discussion regarding the various structural issues with regards to List of Disney theatrical animated features, Template:Disney theatrical animated features, Walt Disney Animated Classics, Category:Disney animated features canon, List of Disney feature films‎ and what ever other lists are out there, I would suggest that we somehow combine the discussions (both past and present) into one place. This will allow easy review on single page for users interested in this matter. It will also allow future users an easy access to whatever rational is used to support the structure of the various lists (including keeping or merging certain lists.). I believe that in placing this discussion in one central location, it alleviates repetitive discussion, allows issues are not constantly revisited in different locations and hopefully sets the future standard in updating the various lists with the verifiable sources. I honestly do not know if there is Wikipedia policy on this, nor do I know what the proper way of creating such a place. But I do believe it would useful.

I have posted this suggestion on the all the User’s talk pages above and apologize if I have missed any person who may be interested in this matter. If you know of a user interested in this matter, please invite any that person to discuss these issues. .If I have included you and you have no interest in this matter, I sincerely apologize and please delete this message.

By the way, I notice that one of your areas of interest appears to be Disney animated films. I checked the Featured list and noticed that none of Disney's animated film articles are currently rated at featured quality, in spite of the fact that I'm sure that there are plenty of literature about them available, especially on the older classics like Bambi or Cinderella (both of which I have in my personal DVD collection, by the way). I hope you might consider polishing and then submitting one or more of those articles for featured consideration (FAC). Hey Spike --- Some of what you say has merit, however it appears that based upon what I have read on your talk page that you have quite a history of "Heavy Handedness" in your approach to your edits. I also notice a marked pattern of mixing personal opinion with Wikipedia Policy. It's interesting the lengths to which people will go when they sense even a tiny bit of power. Would you like me to cite the thousands of papers written on that very subject as well? Bullies come in all shapes and sizes, Spike. You and 'ol "Vegaswikian" appear to be textbook cases on that very issue. The fact that you had to go to Vegaswikian's talk page to ask for "help" is nothing more than a cyber version of a "gang-up" tactic and does nothing more than further support my contention. I would strongly suggest that you (as well as your cohort "Vegaswikian") tread very carefully not only on this particular article -- but also on all of your future edits of other articles. The evidence I have gathered thus far to support my case is very compelling. I will now be following both of you very closely. Bottom Line: I only care about one thing here -- an even-handed sense of fair play.

By the way -- the aquifer reference needs to stay. Without this aquifer, Lake Dolores would have never happened.

I've seen this nut job as well. I clicked on the "Geolocate" key at the bottom of one of the IPs and it reverts back to a provider in Dublin, Ireland and it appears to be issued to a Woodford Construction. Bambifan is in Mobile, Alabama...but I'd like to put both on a slow boat to China, if you'll pardon the archaic reference.  :) I think a rangeblock is more than warranted and I'll see what I can bring up regarding Woodford Construction. Re: cleaning up the other episodes of Hell's kitchen, I have added some info to the third season Re: Heather West in preparation for a possible redirect. I am considering changing my position on whether the article about her should be kept or not. As much as it would gall me. If she came back for a third season then I would think she might just be worthy of her own article. But you're probably right. She just might not meet the standards of having her own article on wiki. But the article about Dave should be taking care of first. Yes, it's Tangled, and none other than the US Patent and Trademark Office has confirmed it. A quick search of the trademark "Tangled" found close to 30 recent requests for trademarks, including a number with "Disney Tangled" as the trademark. The applications are for all kinds of consumer products and marketing items, and all registered by Disney Enterprises, Inc. The earliest one I found was requested February 11, 2010. Well, his primary work for Pixar is as one of their screenwriters and character designers for the films, the video game stuff is an extra addition to that rather than the other way around. Pirates 4 Casting and information

Why are you putting that Bryson Carvalho as Kales Aswell, when there is NO source that it is true? And also, the information about the film that I have changed is the truth. Disney did plan on filming in the Spring, but they changed it to June(no explanation was given, it JUST happened). And I've read that it's more expensive to film in Hawaii and London, rather than the Caribbean, so all of the Budget cut news are ENTIRELY false. And if you don't believe me, LOOK IN THE SOURCES(because that's where I got my information from). I'm tired of having to explain this to you, but here is my FINAL explanation(unless if you refuse to believe the TRUTH). So either go with what I wrote(which is the TRUTH), or don't bother editing it(because it is YOU who is making that Bruckheimer statement "wishy-washy", as you call it). Look at this excerpt from the cited source for that statement about the 2009 Comic-Con:

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer told us a few weeks back that they were working on a script, but Aviv and Disney are definitely on board as we learned when we discovered that they have plans to be rolling film on the movie as early as next year. "We're going to shoot 'Pirates 4' in April or May of next year," Aviv told us during our interview. "We are going to release it hopefully in 2011 is the plan." He said that this time they would only be doing one movie this time that would "hopefully be the first of another trilogy."

Ok, I apologize for acting that way, let me explain why it was like it was:

I have always looked at Pirates 4 news, and I hate it when someone doesn't believe that I'm telling the truth about these things(I do admit that I go overboard sometimes, which I am sorry for).

And yes, I'm here to make sure the Pirates film articles are 100% correct(but unfortunately, I don't do any other articles, because I think I'd be WAY more helpful with the information about Pirates 4). And I apologize for misunderstanding what you meant by "wishy-washy" part, I honestly thought you meant that it was all lies(but it really wasn't).

And all I wanted to do to that sentence was to make it clear that Disney(NOT Bruckheimer), wanted to start filming in March or April 2010(as said in the source that the sentence was attached to). And I also wanted to make it clear that they changed the starting date to June 2010(obviously because of the current events). And while we're discussing this as a team, I'd like to point out that ALL the information about the budget cuts are completely false, as said by one of the writers, Terry Rossio(it was basically another internet rumor that went too far).

But I would like it if we should leave the filming section as it is now, which is stating all that has happened after filming started. That way, it won't be filled with rubbish and internet rumors that are obviously false. And thank you for your kindness, and again, I apologize for my behavior on my last post. Fine. I will make an account, if it means so much to Wikipedia. But before I do, I have a few conditions:

1. No one is to ruin my future edits, unless if necessary(like "if" there is something I overlooked in my sources, which I usually don't).

2. I'm not going to be a huge part of the Wikipedia, I'm only going to correct false information into what is written IN the source(like with the whole "Bruckheimer confirmed this at SDCC", when he actually didn't).

3. I don't want any more talk of "you can't do this" and all that stuff. Because you and everyone else on WP probably don't understand that you need me(at least for the POTC 4 article). Because without my assistance, your article would just be full of lies, at least the production section would(obviously you'll get the plot and the cast right).

Act of God

I wanted to let you know why I reverted a recent edit you made at Amusement park accidents. An Act of God is typically defined as an "extraordinary" event by a natural cause. Typical examples are floods, tornados, hurricanes, or something that results in a major accident. Slipping and falling wouldn't usually "fall" into this category (pardon the pun). Often when such events result in injury, the injured sue in court filing a claim against another party they deem responsible. The court will usually rule in favor if it is determined to be negligence on the part of the defendant, or they will rule against if it's determined to be negligence on the part of the plantiff. An "Act of God" wouldn't come into play in these circumstances. More importantly, this article doesn't currently contain any Act of God listings. Texas Giant incident

I reverted your recent edit at Incidents at Six Flags parks. Multiple reliable sources confirm the statements made by the eyewitness, and it should be acceptable to include it until we have more information from the investigation. We are assigning credit for the claim to the eyewitness, which is supported by the cited refs. The revised statement you proposed, "there may have been issues with the ride's restraint system not being securely locked" is not supported by these references. Well, it turns out a tweet from one of the riders supports the claim that the restraint may have released during the ride. One of the original refs was updated by the publisher to reflect that, and a new ref altogether was added to the article as well also confirming the tweet. --GoneIn60 (talk) 03:52, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
