Given your view, I'm having a hard time determining what part of Wikipedia:Requests for comment/A Nobody#Outside view by Kww you disagree with. In general, it's better to support an existing view than to split off a new view that is nearly the same.—Kww(talk) 17:53, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'd have sent an email but you say you don't check. If people (even other admins) truly are harassing (badgering you on wiki... I can't really help with real life harassment) you, ask for admin assistance. My talk page is always open. I may blow you off, but I have 300+ talk page watchers. If what you bring to me is legit, it will be dealt with. If it's not legit it will be too. I hope that is of some help to you. ++Lar: t/c 02:15, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

You misread me edit

I didn't side with them. The problem is that they are a fact of life. I can't block them, because I'm not an admin. I can't go on the attack, because there are too many of them, and the situation isn't black-and-white. This isn't an easy problem where I can offer you a piece of advice that will fix everything, or dole out some punishment that will fix everything.

I gave you a friendly offer, and I meant it: when you are in these discussions and feel provoked, drop me a message. I'll look over your situation, and give you the best advice I can for dealing with that situation. That was meant in all friendliness, and the offer is still open.—Kww(talk) 03:39, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

AGF edit

I'm sorry if you took my asking for your motivation (which you still have not disclosed) as a personal attack. It was not intended as such.

I put "wiki-lawyering" in my edit summary to summarize my comment, as I was quoting our exact policy. I have no idea why you think I was accusing you of wiki-lawyering, but apologize for any confusion that might be my fault.

Please be careful about throwing around accusations of my assuming bad faith, though. We both need to heed WP:AOBF. --Karnesky (talk) 00:16, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Other matter edit

RE: Wikipedia_talk:Article_Rescue_Squadron#WOW There is no policy that forbids this, in fact I have thoroughly documented that other wikiprojects do this constantly, even with Arbcom and admin elections.
That said, it is better to simply ignore questions and challenges about notifying others, as "edits begat edits" and you won't change anyone's mind.
In a recent AFD, I was quite open about notifying all of the editors in a previous AFD. That way no one could accuse me of hiding something or try to get me in a "gotcha".
Next time you do this, I suggest publicly announcing to everyone in the AFD that you have notified the ARS, like editors now do with deletion discussions:
*<small class="delsort-notice">Note: This debate has been included in the list of Websites-related deletion discussions. Thryduulf (talk) 19:59, 20 September 2009 (UTC)<!--Template:Delsort--></small>[1]
Ikip (talk) 22:16, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Proper ARS tagging of an article, requesting assistance in improving an article, is never to be perceived as canvassing. Posting a reminder at the ARS talk page is then never required, as active members will have already noted the ARS tag, and inactive members won't notice. So adding a note there is completely unneccessary. MichaelQSchmidt (talk) 00:04, 27 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I hadn't had a chance to reply on the Leafpad AfD yet but I thought you might be interested in this. See this section on my talk page. --Tothwolf (talk) 00:36, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

That AFD is too filled with attacks that I'm not bothering with that AFD. Joe Chill (talk) 00:39, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Which AfD? --Tothwolf (talk) 00:46, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
The leafpad AFD. You retracted what you said, but with those comments there, it makes it simpler for editors to attack me. Especially because I don't think that it shows notability. Joe Chill (talk) 00:48, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
What exactly did I retract on the Leafpad AfD? I still think you may be pushing the envelope a little too far when it comes to nominating many of these software articles, and yes, I am familiar with when it began and why, and that does make it hard to AGF. How about this, if and when you decide to start improving software articles rather than trying to have them wiped away, please feel free to contact me on my talk page.
--Tothwolf (talk) 01:09, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
The reason isn't because of my articles being nominated for deletion! I just have different ways of trying to help on Wikipedia. You're not familiar so stop your bad faith assuming lies. What is your problem with assuming bad faith? Don't say shit without proof. I won't talk to you about software because I do not agree with your opinion and you constantly assume bad faith. Now I'm not being civil and with good reason. Joe Chill (talk) 01:11, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
It isn't bad faith, and for what its worth I think some of the people who gave you a hard time were wrong for doing so (some of that looked horrible). I don't disagree with all of your nominations, I disagree when you nominate something that either has coverage, can be improved via regular editing, or can be merged into a larger parent article. --Tothwolf (talk) 01:24, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I don't like it when people say that they know something without any proof (You have no idea how often that is). That's my point. We disagree! It's common for people to disagree with each other. Joe Chill (talk) 01:27, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't want to link to those old diffs, you've tried to get away from all of that and all things considered I don't have a problem with that. Have you read the article on FUTON bias? Many of the articles I work on are related to software that predate Google and even the World Wide Web (yes, we really did have the Internet before the WWW was thought of). What this means is it isn't always possible to find things for these articles with Google. I'm often having to dig through old Usenet archives and compressed archives from old FTP mirrors. This doesn't mean coverage for something does not exist – it just means it can't always be found with something like a Google search (and I'll admit right now, I like Google). --Tothwolf (talk) 01:39, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
People have different ways of searching. Joe Chill (talk) 01:41, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, and the methods usually (and often should) vary depending on the subject at hand. Can we at least agree that we are both trying to improve Wikipedia but we just have different backgrounds? --Tothwolf (talk) 01:45, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes. This issue has went on longer then when MichaelQSchmidt and I was trying to stop sockpuppets from attacking me. Joe Chill (talk) 01:46, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

(←) Certainly never a fun thing to have to deal with. You probably understand about how I feel about the whole situation I've been documenting on AN/I. How should we resolve the stuff on the Leafpad AfD? Should I post a followup comment there indicating that we have resolved our differences? I still think we should bring up the popcorn numbers there for others to mull over and consider. --Tothwolf (talk) 02:01, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think that the follow-up comment will be good. I'm fine with you bringing up the popcon numbers on AFD. You didn't need to ask me for the second one. Joe Chill (talk) 02:05, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Done, [2] I'll see about posting something on AN/I as well. --Tothwolf (talk) 02:47, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your comments at ANI edit

There is no need for this comment, "Are you such a dick in real life?" and no matter what someone else has said, you should not say that, it would be better if you struck it or removed it. Off2riorob (talk) 21:59, 10 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't know the history but it is our individual comments that reflect back on us, if someone else has done something then that is their problem, we are only responsible for our actions and saying ..he was nasty is not a reason to be nasty ourselves, it is up to you, it was only a friendly suggestion, regards. Off2riorob (talk) 22:09, 10 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'm not going to template you, but please do read Uw-npa2 and consider this a friendly and advisory notice that calling another user a dick is completely out of line, no matter what they've done to you in the past (two wrongs don't make a right etc. and some other cliches). I'm sure you were provoked, but you could just as easily have responded, "Was that comment helpful?" for example, which is slightly sarcastic, but much less abrasive than what you actually posted. Thanks for reading ;) ╟─TreasuryTagcabinet─╢ 22:21, 10 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

How do I create categories? Joe Chill (talk) 16:07, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

To add a category to a page, whether it "exists" (has been used before) or not, just type or whatever. If you want to add text to the category page, simply click on the redlink that will be created when you do the above, and edit the page. Hope this helps! ╟─TreasuryTagdirectorate─╢ 16:12, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
It's obviously more than that: Category:2006 televison series. Joe Chill (talk) 16:16, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Any page you want to add to the category, just type onto the page. If you want to edit the category itself, click here to do it. It's actually designed to be very easy. ╟─TreasuryTagsundries─╢ 16:22, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've explained how you create a category. There are two elements to a category existing (ie. having been created). It has pages in it, and it has a short description on its own page. I've told you how to do both of those things. Read WP:CAT, or ask for further clarification, if you're still unsure. ╟─TreasuryTagUK EYES ONLY─╢ 16:29, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

You haven't done anything wrong. Now you need to put some pages into it, which you need to do manually. Note: There are already categories on Category:Television series by decade and Category:Television series debuts by year with lots of related subcategories, and currently it is not clear how the new category you created fits in, and what its inclusion criterion is. It would be a good idea to consult with related wikiprojects or editors before proceeding further. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 16:43, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately I read it too late. Man, I hate how Wikipedians sometimes just doubt that you're trying to contribute like you'd just make some shit up for the hell of it. That documentary (Kung-Fu Killers) came out shortly after Fight Science, and National Geographic have made a ton of documentaries on martial arts. This is why I hardly contribute anymore, most of my time is spent on the martial arts wiki.

Paranoid edit

Re "You sound paranoid." [4] I suggest you strike out your comment on that DRV.

Paranoia: "Paranoia is a thought process heavily influenced by excessive anxiety or fear, often to the point of irrationality and delusion."

This new AfD [5] of an article we've been expanding and adding sources to pretty much disproves your theory of "paranoia". Note that this AfD was created by the individual that targeted me because I added sources to articles and had many kept at AfD. With the mass-AfD, he was a meatpuppet canvassed by the other individual (the diff links are on the AN/I). I know he monitors my contribs and saw my comment about the other individual at DRV.

Hi. Re User:Joe Chill#Stuff found the web about my account: have a look at User:Antandrus/observations on Wikipedia behavior. It's all worth reading, but you'd particularly appreciate #49:

The highest compliment a troll can pay to you is to create an attack page about you elsewhere on the internet. It's as close to an admission of surrender as you will get, in addition to showing that you are doing something very right indeed. As in on-wiki trolling, the insults they choose tell you more about them than about you. Consider such pages to be monuments to your good work, but otherwise ignore them.

Most of the time you always say this sentence with a change in the last part of the sentence as if you think of it as your own catchphrase. Pickbothmanlol 17:48, 21 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Finding significant coverage edit

You may be able to access additional databases of articles from reliable sources through your local library's website. Many libraries subscribe to various databases that can be accessed through their website, but only by people with a valid library card number. You can also search for references at http://www.findarticles.com or http://www.accessmylibrary.com I hope this will allow you to use the phrase I like to use in AFD discussions: "Keep. I added some references." -- Eastmain (talk) 15:08, 24 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Megarex edit

Hi, Joe Chill! I saw you voted for deleting Megarex. In fact, it had no references. I added some references I found about this band and its importance to Brazilian music and, then, I explained the reasons to keep the article in Wikipedia, according to band. Take a look there, please. I hope you change your opinion about that. Thank you!Victor Silveira (talk) 02:22, 25 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Trying to be helpfull in spite of my anger. edit

You may want to use delsort for your AfD nomination of Internal Suffering. -- allennames 03:15, 26 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Regarding CNFan12 edit

Two things:

 • I've nominated Nickelodeon 3d Movie Maker 2, an article by CNFan12, for deletion. Does it meet any speedy deletion requirements?
 • You've speedy deleted two other articles by the same user. Should we keep an eye on this user's posts?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Though it doesn't meet CSD, I'll still keep it up for deletion. Is someone watching CNFan12's posts? --Delta1989 (talk/contributions) 02:44, 30 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'll keep an eye on him; it'll give me something to take care of here on Wikipedia. --Delta1989 (talk/contributions) 02:51, 30 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Loan me an eye? edit

I am hoping you might be able to revisit the Ashes to Ashes (2010 film) article, as its been modified some over the last few hours. Perhaps you might be able to offer input toward its continued improvement? Thank you, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 08:23, 30 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bless (Hip hop artist) edit

Your AfD notice on my talk page missed the actual target. While the history does indeed show that I made that page, what I created there was a redirect from Bless to Blessing. Since then, it's apparently been moved and edited. Looks like User:HIPHOPNYC is who you want. - Smerdis of Tlön (talk) 00:53, 6 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

No prob. I was on my way to put an AfD message on their talk page, but if you're on, I'm going to start dinner.... - Smerdis of Tlön (talk) 00:56, 6 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
