Deletion of the Monito.com Article edit

Dear Phontomsteve,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out about a page https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Monito.com that you deleted on Dec 22, 2018. Reaching out today is a humble attempt at making you change your mind.

Disclaimer: I'm the founder of the startup owning the website www.monito.com and transparent about it.

Here's why I believe that a Wikipedia article about Monito.com would benefit the community: 1. Monito is a reputable company, used by millions of users around the world which has partnered with the Swiss Government & the International Organization for Migration (UN Agency) and has received investments from (among others), a best selling author and a [traded company].

2. We're recognized as experts in our field and quoted as an expert in the Money Transfer industry by various prestigious media outlets, including [Forbes], TechCrunch, Business Insider, Le Monde, Le Temps, 20 Minutes, Money International and the Swiss National Television (RTS). We're invited as keynote speakers at industry conferences, such as the International Money Transfer Conference, the Transparency in the Remittances Industry Conference at the Swiss Embassy in London and the Global Forum on Remittances.

3. People looking for Monito online or on Wikipedia are only served with the information about the Monito Island. As beautiful as it sounds, I think that the vast majority of people looking for information about Monito are looking for our company history, background and information.

I sincerely apologize if the first attempt to edit a page for Monito.com sounded self-promotional and I'm willing to hear from you how we can build a page that answers questions from the public while following all Wikipedia rules.

Best regards, François Briod francois@monito.com

Hi Briodf, thank you for reaching out to me.
Firstly, may I just start by saying that the deletion of the article does not indicate that it is not believed that the company exists, or that it thought not to be reputable!
The reason why the article was deleted was that it was too promotional in tone for a neutral encyclopedia, which is what Wikipedia sets out to be.
In 1. above, you mention a partnership - but the link you provided did not mention Monito;
In 2. above, you give a few links, so let me explain why I do not think that they meet the criteria as suitable sources:
  1. Forbes: Monito is included in a list of "Europe's 10 Most Exciting Technology SMEs For 2018" - but it is a minor mention, without any detailed information about the company itself'
  2. TechCrunch: A quotation from yourself (as founder) - this does not provide any information about the company, and even so, as the information would have been provided by you, it is no an independent source;
  3. Le Monde: Effectively an interview with you, with company-provided information. Again, not an independent source;
  4. RTS: Again, an interview with you, again not independent;
  5. IMTC: Your bio;
  6. "Transparency: the only way forward for remittances": confirms that you spoke at this panel event, but does not provide information about the company
  7. "Global Forum on Remittances" - does not appear to mention your company at all?
As to your assertion that "the vast majority of people looking for information about Monito are looking for our company history, ...", I'm not sure that there is evidence about this one way or another!
In order to have an article created, you would need to provide independent sources (i.e. not using press releases, interviews with company staff, etc) from reliable sources.
Might I suggest that you read the following articles that can provide you with useful information:
