Reinstating Kharen Hill wikipedia page edit

Hello,

i would like to start the process of reinstating the Kharen Hill Wikipedia page that you deleted. is it possible to acess the text so i can put it on my sandbox. I spent a lot of time researching this and working on the article i do believe this person is worthy of a wikipedia page and is a photographer of note so it is a matter of understanding what was missing in the artlicle.

Please send me the text to access and i will look at the policies on how to make my article comply with what you need for a biography. This is my first time using Wikipedia so i aprecaite your guidance. RhyH (talk) 16:50, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for contacting me. The Kharen Hill article was deleted following a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Kharen_Hill. The consensus there was that there were no reliable, independent sources for the article. For a person to have an article on Wikipedia, they need to meet the notability criteria. We have general notability criteria, but we also have some more specific ones to indicate whether a creative artist such as a photographer is notable (see WP:CREATIVE):
  1. The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors.
  2. The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory, or technique.
  3. The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. In addition, such work must have been the primary subject of an independent and notable work (for example, a book, film, or television series, but usually not a single episode of a television series) or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews.
  4. The person's work (or works) either (a) has become a significant monument, (b) has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) has won significant critical attention, or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums.
Any of these would be verifiable by the use of reliable, independent sources - this does not include the artists' own website (that's not independent) or IMDB (which is not considered reliable, as anyone can add information with minimal or no editorial input).
Could you provide some examples of such coverage which would indicate that Kharen meets these criteria? If so, we can go from there. Please note that blogs, wikis, etc are not considered reliable sources, and that press releases are not considered to be independent.
Kind regards, PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 00:15, 24 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thankyou for clarification. kharen Hill definately qualifies under ":# The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. In addition, such work must have been the primary subject of an independent and notable work (for example, a book, film, or television series, "

Kharen is a photographer who's creative, video and photography work is used for the major advertising campaigns (the brand imaging) for the entire seaaon of a TV show or movie and has worked on hundreds of projects on going which can be linked to. Including Canada's top rated shows over 7 years on the national Canadian Network CBC Television out of Toronto Canada. - Corner gas 92 years of shoots for the whole campaign - 'Republic of Doyle' (3 years) when they were at their peak of popularity. She was flown from LA/Vancouver to New foundland CBC wanted Canada's number one rated shows to have . she was brought in to shoot their entire add campaign other unique creative vision is used for all of the campaigns associated with Complete Television shows, movies and are the highly paid advertising sessions where she is the sole director in charge of the whole film crew on images used as the "one sheet" and in charge of photographing all the imagery for these entire campaigns which are all on wikipedia and i had started linking to them. She is notoriously modest and being an artist has no been the best at publishing , but is arguably the most successful Canadian photographer in this field and working in the USA also in the top percent of photographer worldwide. Multi million dollar projects rely on her photography to advertise and promote them and her talent as a photographer and director get her hired above all the other photographers in the world for her chosen field of work. Is there a way to restore the page I was working on so i can start linking to all of her projects ? she ia also an artist with successful group and solo shows in los Angeles where she sold to collectors around the world. Again mostly off of social media but i can look for info on this as well. Please advise of you can restore the page or send me the text of the last version before the deletion- i didn't realize the page would be deleted and didnt save my work in another area. Kharen Hill definately qualifies so i am sure i will find what you need to qualify her. RhyH (talk) 20:36, 24 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

@RhyH: How do you know this information? You have not yet provided any reliable sources that include the information. Without them, one must assume that you know this person (or you ARE them) - if you have any connection to this person, you are required by Wikipedia's policies to declare it. Read through WP:COI. Regards Exemplo347 (talk) 00:42, 25 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi RhyH - as Exemplo347 says, you have not provided any reliable sources for your statements. If she is so successful, I'd expect to see some reliable, independent sources to verify that. Without such sources, no discussion of providing the page source, let alone restoring it, can be had - so please provide some examples of such sources. A gallery photographer is not generally reckoned to be considered playing "a major role". However, if you can show that this work by her has been the primary subject of an independent and notable work (ie there has been a book, film or television series about her work, not that she has worked on a film or tv series), and it can be shown that she is considered by independent sources to be a notable person - your say so is really not enough. Provide the sources for me to look at, and we can discuss this further (and social media sources are not considered reliable). PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 23:05, 26 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Phsntom Steve, i know this information because her work is credited on the internet for these campaigns by the major studios who hire her. Fox, CBS,. IF you google her you see her work with all of the actors and it is a fact you do not get hired to di this work unless you are a notable photographer. She is hired alongside many other photographers who have wikipedia pages because her work is notable and on par within this select group of talented photographers. Because she was based in Canada and in a smaller centre and not in New York city where most of her competition lives she has not done as much editorial work which is commonly where you get articles published. I will contact her offices and see what there is available and do some research on the internet for the article links. In the meantime can you put the article page back up on my Sandbox and i can add that section and send you a note when i can get to it (this week hopefully). Thankyou for responding and walking me through this process.RhyH (talk) 23:58, 26 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for contacting me again. Let me go through your points:
  • "IF you google her you see her work with all of the actors" - this is not an indication in and of itself that she meets our notability criteria. Working with notable people does not make an individual notable themselves (at Wikipedia, we say that "notability is not inherited")
  • "it is a fact you do not get hired to di this work unless you are a notable photographer" - a photographer doing some work may make them notable, but at Wikipedia we look for independent coverage verifying that they meet our criteria (I'll cover this a bit more in a moment...)
  • "She is hired alongside many other photographers who have wikipedia pages" - just because other people have Wikipedia articles does not mean that she should have one. Firstly, it could be that those other Wikipedia articles are not adequately referenced, and in fact should be deleted; alternatively, it could be that there are in fact sufficient citations to independent, reliable sources that demonstrate their notability.
  • "Because she was based in Canada and in a smaller centre and not in New York city where most of her competition lives she has not done as much editorial work which is commonly where you get articles published." - Canada is not exactly lacking in news sources, or internet access! We are not looking for articles by her, but those that have significant coverage of her.
  • "In the meantime can you put the article page back up on my Sandbox" - as I have said several times already, I will not do this unless at least a few reliable, independent sources can be provided.
If you can provide some of these sources that verify that she is notable (to quote from the Notability Guidelines: "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list."), then I would be happy to discuss moving the deleted article to your sandbox for you to work on. If you cannot provide such sources, then I am not willing to move it there, on the hope that you might provide the sources.
I trust this clarifies the situation more, and I look forward to you providing some sources that I can look at, so I can see if they meet the criteria that Wikipedia sets for using them for an article. PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 15:02, 31 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for getting back to me. I will be revisiting this when i get time and apreciate you clarifying things for me to research. RhyH (talk) 05:03, 5 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Reinstate Ivan Rusilko Wiki Page edit

Hello! I'm hoping you can help. In 2015, you deleted a page for Ivan Rusilko. http://speedydeletion.wikia.com/wiki/Ivan_Rusilko

I muddled through the unknown and communicated with another moderator who had also edited or changed the page, who suggested I could ask if you might be " willing to "userfy" the article - move it into a draft subpage where you can work on it." Being a newbie (and still am!) I wasn't sure how to navigate the platform, as the page was taken down while I was updating and editing content. I didn't realize my edits were in breach of TOS. I now understand the encyclopedic approach as opposed to CV/Bio/Resume' content with strictly fact base, vanilla content. I understand that now. In the event you CAN resuscitate the old content prior to the deletion in 2015, I would appreciate the effort so I can maintain links and references previous editors had already established, rather than start from scratch.

I feel responsible for the re-establishment of the article as I was the one editing and making changes when it was removed. Any help or recommendation would be appreciated.

Best -

Hi MichaStone, thanks for contacting me. Before I would consider userfying the article, could I ask you to answer these questions:
  1. What is your connection to Ivan, and why do you want to create an article about him?
  2. Which notability criteria or Notability (people) criteria does Ivan meet?
  3. Could you provide some reliable, independent sources that verify his notability?
If you can answer those, we can continue from that point with this discussion. Thanks, PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 21:55, 13 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
