Valentines Ball! edit

Hi Hermione! In lieu of the Esperanza Valentines ball tonight at 6pm UTC (1pm EST), I wondered if you would do me the honour of being my Valentine.

Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
No love is greater
Than my love for you

/me blushes - Celestianpower has never done this before. --Celestianpower háblame 12:54, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

your question on my RfA edit

Hi Hermione,

Thank you for posting an additional question on my RfA - I was extremely slow on the uptake and only realised it was there yesterday! I have been quite disappointed that the few opposing votes I have had do not seem to appreciate the sentiments I have expressed on my user page... but hey - perhaps they haven't even read them!

Anyway, thanks again, and all the best. DJR (Talk) 11:38, 19 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Clay Aiken edit

Was just over at katefan's page to leave her a message and saw your note. Ironic indeed. Since I was reminded of you, I'll ask the same of you that I have asked of her and Will Beback. In order to avoid a spitting contest between myself and unregistered user rabinid, I'm asking for help with the John Paulus entry that he has added to Wikipedia. I tried to give it a more neutral angle (not always perfectly), but he has reverted most of my changes. If you check his history, you can see that his singular goal is to publicize Paulus throughout Wikipedia. I hate seeing Wikipedia used in this way (that is, as a medium to spread tabloid "news"), and do not believe it should be what this encyclopedia is about. Would you check this particular entry and let me know what you think, and make changes if you see fit? Thanks. -Jmh123 03:54, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

First, I'm not unregistered. I have a legitimate Wiki account. As well, I'm not seeding this info throughout Wikipedia as accused. I have many other Wiki edits and a long history under a different account. I created this one strictly for this particular info because of the feelings associated with it. That said, I loathe sourcable on-topic info being removed or denied inclusion simply on the basis that it may be perceived as disparaging to a subject. In this case Jmh123 is an avowed Clay Aiken fan who has made it her mission to only "seed" wiki with what she believes is positive information on Aiken. It's her right to do so, but only if that info is NPOV, on topic, relevant and sourcable. In particular with the info removed from John Paulus], I did not revert all of her edits to the entry, only the ones that were non-sourcable, as well as summaries of content that was already supplied in the form of links to the MP3s of the actual content. These are all legitimate NPOV edits, sourcable and on topic. I would urge you to double check my work --Rabinid 09:36, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Deletion edit

Could you please delete Image:Lj-drama-archive1.jpg because I created another one (quite by accident) called LJ-drama-archive1.jpg Nothing's linking to it, so it's safe to toast (I just don't know how). You can reply here, I'm watching your page.

Thanks - nathanrdotcom (TalkContribs) 06:44, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image:Lj-drama-archive1.jpg has been toasted. I saved a copy on my computer in case I deleted the wrong one. Hermione1980 20:37, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
No, you got the right one. I made sure it wasn't linking to anything. Much appreciated! - nathanrdotcom (TalkContribs) 21:33, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

smugglebum edit

Awww :-) Innit sweet. I wonder why people don't just get a really nice fountain pen and some expensive paper and write a sonnet for their beloved if they feel so strongly. Putting protestations of undying love on Wikipedia seems a very strange way to go about it indeed! Tonywalton  | Talk 00:52, 24 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

It is about the essentials and basic techniques of writing an essay. Some of these techniques include writing and analyzing the perfect hook of an essay. Please reply asap. Talk 00:53, 24 February 2006

Do you think that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literary_Terminology is a valid topic?

Another Barnstar for you! edit

I, EWS23, hereby award Hermione1980 the Tireless Contributor Barnstar for her countless and valuable contributions to Harry Potter-related pages. Keep up the good work! 01:36, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

I simply can't believe you don't already have a dozen barnstars for this alone. I see your edits in my watchlist constantly, and I never have to worry if it's a quality edit or not. For this reason (and many more), it's my honor to award you this barnstar. Feel free to move/copy it to your user page. Congrats, and keep up the good work! • What do you mean by that? We're here to help if you need it. Why don't you just slow down a bit and post on my talk page if you need anything and I'll see what I can do. - nathanrdotcom (TalkContribs) 03:17, 1 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

My RfA edit

Hi! Thanks for your support in my request for adminship (did you know that "adminiship" is not an English word? Unbelievable!). It ended with a tally of (51/0/0). As an administrator, I hope to better help this project and its participants: if you have any question or request, please let me know. - Liberatore(T) 12:15, 1 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

As an addition, I think the question you have added is very relevant for evaluating a candidate for adminiship. Thanks for asking! - Liberatore(T) 12:15, 1 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Personal attacks. edit

Is it me or are personal attacks not permitted on Wikipedia? Could you lend me some assistance, please? Thanks :) You can reply here, I'll be watching. - nathanrdotcom (TalkContribs) 19:49, 5 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

You are correct. Personal attacks are not permitted on Wikipedia. You also seem to be dealing with this admirably. If anyone responds again, I'll take another look at it, but right now, it looks to me like you've got it under control. Hermione1980 19:54, 5 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Language translation edit

Hi Hermione1980, I'm wondering if there's a special program that you can translate things into other languages or do you just have to use your brain? Robobot569 20:20, 22 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1 edit

Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Note from the editor
Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.
  5. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community.
  6. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially.
  7. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on.
  8. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen.
Signed...

SmackBot edit

Hi, would be grateful if you would consider unblocking.

  1. There are three problems complained about 1 & 2 are fixed (and 1 was fixed immediately I was told on my talk page - 2 I wasn't told about).
  2. Problem number 3 appears to be a misunderstanding on the users part. I have asked him about it. Nonetheless I will refain from these edits until it's cleared up.
  3. The user has raised the issue at
    1. Wikipedia talk:Bots
    2. Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)
    3. Wikipedia:Village pump (all)
    4. Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents
    5. Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approvals
(but not my talk page, apart from the very first trivial problem -even that was raised elsewhere first) so I think it will be covered adequately...
  4. I have added a stop button on the User talk:SmackBot which will allow anyone to stop the bot. (Most bots have one for "admins only".)
  5. I have had very few problems with the Bot, and they have all been fixed quickly.
  6. Er.. that's it.

Regards, Rich Farmbrough 23:21 26 March 2006 (UTC).

University of South Carolina edit

Hey, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind lending your opinion to a content dispute that I am currently involved in on University of South Carolina. USC has a strong athletic rivalry with Clemson University. I feel that the athletics section of the article should discuss this rivalry, and I feel that this discussion should include a reference to the overall record between the two schools in various major sports. Other editors have disagreed, and feel that the record should not be mentioned. As it happens, Clemson leads in two of the discussed sports and USC leads in the third. I would appreciate it if you would consider lending your opinion on this issue on Talk:University of South Carolina. Thanks! Ëvilphoenix Burn! 00:45, 30 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your participation in the discussion. However, an anon has removed the section that deals with the rivalry and the record of the rivalry. I maintain this section should be left in the article, however I don't wish to personally continue edit warring. I was wondering if you would consider visiting the discussion again, and if you would consider replacing the information in the article? Thank you again, and I greatly value your contribution to this discussion. Ëvilphoenix Burn! 23:04, 31 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
