User:HorseGirl070605

I've been concerned about this user for some time, know you've had a run in with her in the past so lets' get down to the issues at hand. This user seems to have an issue with co-operation and has had spates of adding original research and for whatever reason adding the same phrase to various articles. Several times during her tenure here she's blanked her talkpage anytime someone told her something she didn't like or was given warnings. That in itself is not bad but the constant references to "I will work with others" seems to makes me think she takes ownership of all she edits and does not want to work with anyone else willingly, even going as far as asking for adminship to prevent anyone but herself editing an article [1]. I can tell she's young but there's a history of this user being very incivil towards others and generally I don't think her attitude is something that should be tolerated even if it is a passive aggressive stance she's taken. Talk to her if you like but she's very unresponsive to others and I have no idea how much traction you'll get out of that if any. treelo _radda 11:09, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Back to give a little tap, two people have had to give her warnings regarding her conduct and it's been an issue since she joined in February even though she has come close to a block several times but never actually modified her editing style. Keeping out from under the radar is no excuse for making statements of ownership and even though it's not extreme vandalism or bad faith editing, I still reckon some form of admin intervention should be done given the persistence of the editor. Yes, I think you're right that some kind of admin intervention is going to be needed at some time. Let's see how she reacts to the latest warnings and if necessary give her a final warning should she continue. As this is my first contribution, please let me know what was objectionable. As an attorney, I know the importance of footnoting, which I was trying to figure out how to do. I was simply trying to add recent facts about a newly national public figure - information that is not normally reported on a national level, only regional. I know this gentleman's page was shut down for apparent vandalism, but I am simply trying to add relevant and recent facts that would be of interest to any football fan. If my tone was inappropriate, just let me know. The basic comments were facts - not a rambling venting of a sports fan. I made a mistake...

I sent this last night to the IRCAC page: "Hi. I am so sorry. I made a mistake trying to update and correct. Now I have read all the pertinent information and I think I understand. I have been a long time fan, following the career of actress Juliet Landau. I had the pleasure of working with her as an extra on a Miss Juliet Production. I thought in saying I worked with her and giving the production company email, you would know that the info was accurate. When that backfired, I emailed from my personal email, explaining that I was a fan. I wrote the bio wanting there to be an appropriate page for Ms. Landau, reflecting the work she has done and with accurate facts." I got a nice response from REDVERS, saying to do all the editing from Mjpbp and to abandon the Ircac account. I have now read all of your comments and instructions... I am sorry for trying to sound official initially ( I thought if I sounded official, you would know the info was correct) and for creating confusion. I don't think I edited it correctly either, according to your procedures. It is a good thing I didn't update the James Marsters page at the same time, as I was planning... Ryan Higa

Can you reconsider your decision to delete the Ryan Higa article. Looking at the last AFD, the major concern seemed to be the lack of 3rd party sources, that doesn't seem to be a problem anymore with coverage available from multiple reliable sources such as KGMB, the CBS affiliate in Honolulu, San Francisco Chronical and some coverage in the Honolulu Star Bulletin. The name is shared by a high school athelete and an artist who have been mentioned in Hawaiian papers which may have made locating sources difficult.--Rtphokie (talk) 14:37, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Eh, I would say AFD it, just because there is an assertion of notability in the article, and a prod would more than likely just be removed by the editor. I think when there is a question of what should be done, usually the more conservative option would be best. So I would just leave it up to the community to decide. Thanks for your help. I explained all those things in the Afd talk page, today. They are trying very hard to discount the Bass Player magazine article, because they are saying it is self submitted. But, most press coverage starts with press releases, which are also self submitted. This seems unfair to discount. Is there specific info to back up their argument? Markup, which I hope you know something about,

Is there any markup you know of to insert a space between two words? Yes, I know about spaces, but as to a template I'm working on, specifically, the {{if:Value A|If true|IF false}} Quite simply, I have no if false, and it displays a tiny warning sign since there is no value for if false, and a regular space won't work, so I was wondering if there was a way one could code a space in. Durn tootin'. It was a new model I'd gotten for review purposes over at RCGroups.com. Neat little .40 trainer and faster than stink. The engine flamed out on takeoff the other day just as I was lifting off the runway. Didn't have the airspeed or altitude to "dead stick" in with a margin of safety and it belly-flopped on the asphalt. The wing was fine, but the fuselage snapped nearly in two in front of the tail. Still waiting to hear back from the distributor in regards to a replacement fuselage. This'll work OK for now. I used thick cyanoacrylate glue and strips of balsa. I took the plane to the field this afternoon to see how it would fly after being repaired...and I realized that I'd forgotten to reinstall the receiver battery (blush)! Good thing I bought an electric plane with me or I'd have driven all that way for nothing. PS: I reinforced the repairs with 30-minute epoxy. The repairs are probably stronger than the airframe. The covering had stretched out a bit too far because of the belly-flop, though. Ah, glad I caught ya. Just logged back on and I tagged a returning vandal over at AIV. Real axe to grind, this one. In any event, I hope it flies straight. Almost ready-to-fly models fly great out of the box, but with no spare covering on hand, I had to carefully peel the existing covering back, make the repairs and iron the covering back down. It looks nice and straight. Now to see if it'll fly straight! And yes, that epoxy is strong stuff once it sets up. --PMDrive1061 (talk)

"closeAFD" for XfD?

Hey, I stumbled across Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/CloseAFD and I saw you worked on it. So I wonder if you could spare some time to consider creating a new script from it: Other "for Deletion" avenues, like IfD, MfD, RfD and MfD, get huge backlogs and there is currently no easy way to close them down. I kind of stumbled onto an update of that script and I wouldn't call myself a maintainer of it. I did the last modifications at the request of Cirt, but that's about as far as I got with it. A day or so before I released the update, Mr.Z-man came out with his fully automated closeAFD.js. I've heard that it's much better than the old script. You might ask Mr.Z-man is he is willing to modify his script for the other XfD areas. If he can't make the changes, leave me another note and I will see what I can do. I have to admit that I don't follow IfD or RfD very much, so I would have to look into what's involved with closing those. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 20:49, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I know of that. I asked him, but he says that it can't work the same way for those areas because they use sections instead of pages and other reasons. And as for making his CloseAFD working on those areas, he said that he did not have time to work on it. But I do not think we need a script that automatically deletes those pages/files as well, just one that adds the header and footer as well as the outcome (like the abovementioned closeAFD does it for AfDs). As you made modifications to the script above, I guessed you know how it works and thus could copy+paste+mod it into a new script for those areas. Closing those areas is similar to AfD (admin instructions are to be found as well), so I do not think it hard for someone with javascript knowledge. Regards SoWhy 21:06, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

god help me I have read a million things more insane and less basic...example is the article on the HOLC...the entire position is an insane position with useless connections to a publisher who is doing self promoting...my intention is to do full and complete links to the historical background of the great depression and how this country got past it by working hard...

sorry about my reaction to the other editor

my reaction had less to do with what was done to my work and really just an over reaction to something I was on the editors space..something about being a grammer-nazi...before there was a jewish holocaust, hitler order the murder/starvation of 500000 helenes in retaliation for having revolted and caused Barbarossa to be moved from march 15 to june 22 causing the loss of the war...some of them were my relatives, so anything that says nazi on it usually gets me going in the wrong way...I will clean up the work, but I really dont see any connection to those two sites and the crash...one wants to blame it on poor people(the community reinvestment act) and the other one wants to blame it on everything being too expensive...neither of which has anything to do with facts that lead to how and why it happened...these are just cnn/usa today versions laying out the dead bodies...not who shot the bullets or why...the starting point on both are so far off as to be impossible to contribute anything inside that noise...there is no insight into how basel 2 rules came together with fas157 to create a tidal wave...pedestrian argument right out of Karl Roves handbook, Global Financial crisis blames the poor...don't quite see how I want to be contributing to a sight that is openly racist...long long ago in a galaxy far far away(ok chicago), I fought hard to make sure the community reinvestment act was enforced...so i know the code words for the closet liberal racists of the world...and the other site, seems to want to focus on...oh golly gee, this world is so expensive...none of it is of much value...no mention of the german banks that had handed out letters of credit and had to be bailed out last year by the german government in the beginning of this mess last year...no mention of the freeze up of financial markets on august 7, 2007 the day after american home mortgage filed bankruptcy...real time usefull facts that might give some insight...cleaning up those other sites...alot of useless stats...with no usefull links...just stale...so I want to thank you for showing me how to find what I was working on, but I don't see any connection with those sites you want me to contribute to and what has actually happened...and there is no way to connect those two sites...they each have an agenda and there is no way to connect those two themes into one space... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elcojone (talk • contribs) 07:20, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Help please

I am trying 2 make 2 user boxes

the first. when you type in the title and how many pages uve created it comes up (i tried 2 start it at Template:Pagescreated. it didnt work) i want it to be light green behind the info. a dark green border and a dark green thing behing the number.

For example if i type in that i had made 7 pages it your come up

6 (in the little box on the left of the infobox) and in the the info part - this user has created 7 pages.

the same for the other one except red box. it will be (this user has had (blah blah) pages deleted.

Since I've well.. I don't know the specific wording, but I would think I've known you for awhile now,

I've thought about this many times, and I still don't think it would work. I'm addicted to Wikipedia, but not just Wikipedia, mainly the internet. It has basically destroyed my sleep schedule. I'm currently typig this out at 3:35am, my time. I've thought of requesting a block(on myself) in the past, but I don't think it would really do anything. Help with hidden history,

I need to know who created this slightly different, but the same redirect, and I need you to inform him that continual re-creation of discussed deleted material is disruptive. When I originally looked at the redirect, I saw through the history that it was the same user who created the original one(ie, the one without the spaces). If you look at the time the discussion, you can see that the user who created the redirect never participated, by when it was voted delete on August 6th by another user, he re-created it with a slight difference two days later, on August 8th.— Dædαlus ^Contribs /_Improve 05:05, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Maybe, but to me it seems a little suspicious that this particular redirect was created two days after the last argument in the RFD was posted. This user was given full warning of the discussion, and refused to participate, then, two days after it was obvious the discussion was to close as a delete, a new redirect is created. Which infobox should i use

a while ago i created the Lapstone Oval page. I have been looking at it recently and am thinking that i could vastly improve it by adding an infobox.

during September of this year you told me that I should use the Template:Infobox Stadium. I visited it and found it had a link to the Template:Infobox Venue.

which infobox should i use. i am afraid that if i create the wrong one then it will be deleted.

CSD Question

Hey, sorry to bother you again, but I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. I notice that on the template for biographies it states that schools don't apply under this section, and I can't seem to find any section that schools apply to. So, I was wondering if school articles can only be deleted through AfD? If this is true, are there any other types of articles that can't be speedy deleted. Thanks. Don't understand

I am trying to make a userbox (another one)

It is at User:De Mattia/Joeys.

I have done everything right. Or at least I think that I have.

I wanted:

• The info part to be blue (and text to be noraml size and black (normal colour))
• The border to be normal size and #DE3163
• The background in the ID part to be #DE3163
• Image:Joeyshuntershill.jpg to be the picture in the ID box
• The uerbox to be the right way round. ID box on the left and info part on the right.

Gambon

Hello Gogo Dodo. Thank you for your note re Mr Gambon's page. There are two main problems with what this Spanish editor keeps doing to the page. First, a small one - they overlink items - especially plays and dates. Second, and a bigger problem the editor creates links that do not go to the correct page and, worse, takes links that do go to the correct page and alters them to go to an incorrect one or a disambig page - The Harry Potter films are the best example of this. Now I suspect that you picked up on this but I wanted to give you an example. Since the protection came off at the end of October they reverted to their page about every ten days and only in the last couple of days have they started doing it regularly (as you pointed out.) A7 Clarity

Thank you very kindly for reviewing a recent page submission. With regards to the deletion due to A7 "No indication that the article may meet guidelines for inclusion", upon studying the link, I realize that such is challenging to pin down, due to a subjective nature. From my humble perspective, the significance of the article was the philosophy and the extensive implementation of that philosophy (PC replaces TV today). I am getting really tired of defending the term "American Mongrel". Are you more than one race? More than 5 nationalities? 300 plus years of ancestry in the US and part Amer-Indian? What should one call the afore? An "English/Irish/Scot/Dane/Dutch/German/French/India-Indian AND Amer-Indian/Black/Creole American"?

I think you are too sensitive to the classic definition of mongrel. Do you like MUTT better? Our next President (to whom I donated much money) referred to himself as such. I live in So Cal and we are not only a mutli-ethnic but increasing a mixed society. I'm guessing you are not exposed to such as all of my background (Heinz 57 plus a dash of other spices) think the term American Mongrel is both amusing and appropiate.

Why don't you get out of your box ask some multi-cultural people (of all colors and backgrounds) what THEY think?

Buckarootoo

The page "Stephen Epstein" title is far too generic. There are multiple physicians with that name. While the easiest thing to do would be to change the title of the article (which I cannot seem to do), the next best thing is to start a new page for the single person that article refers to, but make the title of that article more specific.

This will allow other people with the same name a point of reference from which to create individual pages.

In short, Stephen E. Epstein, MD, (famous though he may be) should not monopolize "Stephen Epstein" on Wikipedia.

I wonder...

...if I could bother you with another script request? You did a great job on the XfD closer but I don't want to sound like someone who just asks and asks and asks... Anyway, running into a bunch of mistaken CSD taggings all the time, I really want some script that makes it easier to decline them without having to type the reasons all the time. What, you don't just delete everything on sight? =) Just kidding. It's an interesting idea and I can look into it. But I'd really like to finish up the CloseXFD script. I actually worked on it over the weekend and I got it put a "Close" link on all of the AfD listings like the AfDHelper script. It took me awhile to figure out why it was doing what it was doing. Tagging of pornographic actresses as spam

Really your comment that the porn actresses wiki pages are not spam and valid wiki pages is so absurd I dont know where to begin. First off all of those pages were created by kink.com and are first referenced and linked off of their wiki kink.com showing a list of the so called females porn actors that have starred in their productions. First if someone creates a wiki about a person, as I have in the past, and that person per se is notable to their community, or to their career or have done things that appear to be notable a wiki editor will delete it in a matter of about 10 seconds after it is posted since that person has to be mentioned somewhere in the news or media like cnn etc.. Ok, so be it, then please explain how someone more than likely using a fake "screen name" that all they had to do was spread their legs and get gang banged in a cheap porn flick, and now that gives them notability to appear in and have their own wikipedia site? Oh Really?=

Let´s just walk through a simple scenerio shall we? John or Mary doe of 13 years of age are doing a school report on an idea that came from their discovery that by placing "kinks" in their garden hose they can make water shoot out much faster. They go to wikipedia since their parents allow that content as its "ok" an ecylocpedia. They enter the words "kink" and arrive at the kink.com wikipedia. Then as the page was before they are invited to a whole different subject than kinks in hoses and make a click on "ana cruzes" link and arrive at a explicit porn page with the title "Im the bitch that your mother warned you about...", well you know with nice pornographic pictures that show and tell all. His/her father happens to be a badass attorney and is quite offended when john/jane doe shows what they discovered in wikipedia. So under many laws, not withstanding, the "Communications deceny act" or the "contemporary community standards" laws or "corruption of a minor", a case is launched agaisnt wikipedia and its editors. Turns out since the editors have the ability to "speak for wikipedia" by approving or disapproving changes etc to content that they themselves not only represent wikipedia but also are not free from personal liability in this matter end up forking the bill for a 100 million plus lawsuit. It seems there is a strange US law that states that all "indecent" material as porno that is hosted on the web on US servers, has to have a simple warning on the home page that the person who is about to visit this site must be over 18 years of age.. etc.. Strange but I didnt see that in any of the 100 plus porn star wikipedias. So the 6 million dollars that wikipedia is trying to raise may not be enough to withstand the lawsuits that will come from the open and blatant access to porn to minors which the wiki "porno portal" path is embarking. All the cute and bold phrases that "wiki doesnt censors" and "they are notable" probable wont mean a whole lot when this "porno portal" of wikipedia ends up exposing wikipedia and its editors to all kinds of civil (oh and criminal) liability from the jane and john does that unfortunately end up on porn pages by doing simple research projects etc.. Dont forget that wikiporn, like any other porn will run agaisnt really ugly laws in the US and about 50 other countries world wide who really dont jive on minors having access to graphic porn. Hi

I looked over the guidelines about posting external links and I'm not sure I understand why the link I added was removed? It was not commercial in nature, and it linked to a more detailed recipe for the topic.

In the examples given for reasons to include an external link it says: "Sites that contain neutral and accurate material that cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article due to copyright issues, amount of detail (such as professional athlete statistics, movie or television credits, interview transcripts, or online textbooks) or other reasons."

In this case it was a recipe so it seems out of scope to post the entire recipe directly into the entry? I'm not trying to cause trouble, but I would like to better understand what the criteria for an external link is. ThanksBlutopia (talk) 07:09, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
