Question from EvolvedLearner on Gaza polychoronos (13:41, 11 May 2024) edit

can i directly take any extra information from other sources, if not what should i do so that any copyrights are not violated? --EvolvedLearner (talk) 13:41, 11 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi EvolvedLearner, welcome to Wikipedia. Articles should always be written in your own words, and citing sources to prove what you have written. There is more information about this at Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources. Please let me know if you need any more help. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 13:44, 11 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from Wikiology101 (20:14, 13 May 2024) edit

Hi! I've seen a lot of pages that Wikipedia said were supposedly "written like an advertisement", and I kind of see the advertising tone, but I have no idea how to help fix the tone. Can you give me some general tips on this? --Wikiology101 (talk) 20:14, 13 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Wikiology101, I'm really sorry for the late response. The type of content reflected in those pages typically falls under those listed at this page. If you're looking to fix the tone of these articles, you need to ensure it doesn't fall under these five issues. I hope this helps, please let me know if you need any more help and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can. --Ferien (talk) 17:16, 6 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Rcaj, I'm afraid my Spanish skills aren't good enough to the extent I can respond to this message in Spanish. Photos can be updated by finding the name of a file you want to replace the existing image with, for example let's use this file File:Greggs, King Street, Hammersmith 04.jpg. Simply replace the name of the old file to replace with the new file. For example:
[[File:2016 Woolwich, Powis Street shops 06.jpg|thumb|right|Photo 1]]
[[File:Greggs, King Street, Hammersmith 04.jpg|thumb|right|Photo 2]]
appears as shown on the right. I hope this helps, please ask if you need any more help. Thanks! --Ferien (talk) 17:22, 6 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from Meekpanda (23:23, 22 May 2024) edit

Hello Ferien -

I have encountered a problem with one of the references for the article I am creating, which is currently in my sandbox. I would like to include a piece from the Daily Telegraph (UK), 26 February 1988, Kitson, Robert, "Dolman leads old boys' tour." Unable to access it via Wikipedia or online, I visited the NY Public Library today, and they kindly emailed me a link. Unfortunately, this is via a proxy (Gale), requiring me to log in via my NYPL credentials, and I can't see how I can include the item. The link is: https://go-gale-com.i.ezproxy.nypl.org/ps/i.do?p=TGRH&u=nypl&id=GALE%7CIO0702455018&v=2.1&it=r&sid=bookmark-TGRH&asid=9cb0b329.

I do have an image of the story, but I can't see that there's any way of adding it as a reference if I save it as (say) a jpg.

I do hope you may be able to advise me here. Many thanks. --Meekpanda (talk) 23:23, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello Meekpanda, do accept my apology for my late reply here, I have been taking a break lately as I have had other real-world commitments to focus on. I also have access to Gale through the The Wikipedia Library, as well as NewspaperArchive, but I was unable to find the article on both databases. If you login using the link you've used above, does the URL remain the same? Adding a paywalled link is ok, though it should link directly to the article. You can use Template:Cite news for any article regardless of URL, but I'm not sure this fits into the easy cases listed there and may be quite difficult to do manually. Let me know if you get a different URL for when you login, and I think we may be able to make a citation out of that. Sorry again for the late response. --Ferien (talk) 17:47, 6 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from The Happy Potter (05:08, 30 May 2024) edit

Hi, firstly I’m new at this! I don’t have a lot of time so I need to put links a such in?

The bungaroosh article was previous so inaccurate it was looked at as pure fiction.

The leading Sussex expert not on his 70,s is Neil England .

He actually knew the previous author of the wrong info posted , he was a planning officer with zero knowledge of bungaroosh.

I have know Neil England , where most of the revised info comes from, for thirty five year and he is highly respected in Brighton Hove and the coastal Sussex areas. He wrote a method to restor the banquet hall in the Royal Pavillion and was asked to repair it all. He has worked on hundreds of listed G1 and G2 buildings and is the go to consultant for bungaroosh.

The previous article was fantasy. Trains arrived in 1841 in Brighton and the regency period and the extensive use of multi Storey bungaroosh in 1811….. we laughed so much as ther were no old railway sleeper as there was no railway!

Please can you stop this other chap from constantly re editing the page putting back the nonsense? Maybe he is the author we can’t say but in the interests of Wikipedia it must be the truth! Thank you so much, I look forward to hearing from you. Steve --The Happy Potter (talk) 05:08, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

FYI I'm attempting to resolve this content dispute on the user's talk page. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 11:38, 1 June 2024 (UTC) (main author of the article in question)Reply

Question from The Happy Potter (01:11, 2 June 2024) edit

Hi! I’m trying to get real facts uploaded about Bungaroosh but I’m being blocked by two senior members.

Can you help? The references actual quote Neil Englands article re bungaroosh and the IHBC refer to Neil as an expert in bungaroosh.

Is this Wikipedia just a club for bored people with no interest in actual facts? Just keeping their status high? I’m saddened by this bullying based on no facts. People in Sussex are paying triple the building insurance rates if they live in a bungaroosh building as the insurance companies quote Wikipedia! Please jump in an help me. Question from Crazypandapug (05:13, 4 June 2024) edit

Hello!, I made this account due to an error in this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Member_states_of_NATO , in which an image depicting the map of NATO European members is wrong, how could I edit the image to fix that? --Crazypandapug (talk) 05:13, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Crazypandapug, welcome! I'm not sure what the error is there, however c:File:NATO members (blue).svg is available on commons for you to view. You can edit the file by downloading it, using Inkscape then uploading the new version to the same file name using the Upload Wizard. If you need any more help, feel free to ask, thanks! --Ferien (talk) 18:36, 6 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you!, the swedish islands of Gotland, Olland and the danish island of Bornholm are a different color of blue (Members Action Plan) compared to their respective countries (Current members) on the map of only European members, thank you so much!
