Miller deleted edit

Hawkeye7 I suspect Wikipedia:Featured article review/Keith Miller in the 1946–47 Australian cricket season/archive1 foiled the bot as the article was deleted before the FAR closed; would you like me to process it manually? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:23, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yes please. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:32, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Will do, not worth adjusting the bot to deal with such oddities. Give me ten or fifteen ... SandyGeorgia (Talk) 20:46, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Done, Talk:Keith Miller in the 1946–47 Australian cricket season, think I got all the pieces (rusty memory). SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:05, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes. Thank you. This hasn't happened for a long time. The easiest way would have been to undelete the article, run the Bot, and then delete it again. But I am not an admin, and cannot do that. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:43, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I will remind people in the future, it if happens again, to first have the article defeatured, then submit to AFD. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:48, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Multiple nominators not all being notified edit

Hi Hawkeye. I hope you don't mind me bothering you with this. Sarcophagus of Eshmunazar II has just been promoted to FAC. It was a joint nomination by two editors. Elias Ziade was duly notified - [1]. But Onceinawhile wasn't. I also note only one credit at Wikipedia:Featured articles promoted in 2023. Any ideas as to what went wrong? Or, more to the point, how to fix it? I am quite happy to "hand correct" this one, but it seemed worth checking to see what was causing it. Thanks. Gog the Mild (talk) 00:16, 10 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Fixed @Gog the Mild: Okay. The problem is related to this change in September 2022. By altering the format of the nomination statement, the FACBot was unable to find the nominator(s). Nobody has noticed until now because the FACBot has a fallback: it goes through the nomination history and locates the creator. This only works when there is one nominator, but it is frequently the case. I have instructed the FACBot in how to identify the new format, and the problem should not recur. (NB: Wikipedia:Featured articles promoted in 2023 is not maintained by the FACBot.) Hawkeye7 (discuss) 00:09, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for that, much appreciated. Hmm, Featured articles promoted in 2023 is not maintained by hand so I wonder how it happens? It does hiccup occasionally so I am used to keeping and eye on it and tidying up. Thanks again. Gog the Mild (talk) 00:15, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia:Featured articles promoted in 2023 is maintained by Rick Bot (talk · contribs). I could have run the notification task again, but the Bot would have notified Elias Ziade again as well. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 04:00, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Bot not exclusion compliant edit

@Hawkeye7: FACBot posted this, despite the fact that the page contains {{nobots}}. Just letting you know FYI, as the BRFA says that it should be exclusion compliant.

All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 00:21, 25 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Fixed The bot does honour {{nobots}} but there was a loophole. I have corrected this, and it should not recur. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 23:42, 25 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Featured list tag added to section instead of top edit

Hey @Hawkeye7, just wanted to report something I came across at Green Bay Packers draft history. This list was promoted on March 24, 2024, and FACBot added the featured list template to a section of the article and not to the top of it (diff here). Hey man im josh (talk) 12:48, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Interesting. I will investigate. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 18:59, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
