Question

What is the purpose of your recent set of edits to the thunderstorm page? They appear to me to be promotional, and your Wikipedia name suggests that you might be a part of a company (that I've never heard of) called "Coastwise Navigation". If that's true, you should be aware of Wikipedia's conflict of interest policies. Guy1890 (talk) 06:09, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

I've removed the section as it is lacks WP:reliable sources and is obviously promotional. The images contain a copyright notice with "Coastwise Navigation" embedded. Vsmith (talk) 12:46, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Several comments in reply to your message at User talk:A930913/BracketBotArchives/ 6#BracketBot – Coastwisenav. First of all, if you don't edit on behalf of Coastwise Navigation, you may want to change your username to clarify that. Wikipedia's username policy explicitly disallows the names of groups or organizations because they may imply shared editing (which is forbidden).

Secondly, you can publish your own images on the Wikimedia Commons if you release them under a free license - but you may have to provide evidence that you are indeed the copyright holder. The easiest way to do so would be to email the release form to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org - then a note will be added to the images that, copyright tag nonwithstanding, everybody may re-use and modify them for any purpose, including commercial purposes, provided they credit you.

Thirdly, I have to agree wth Guy1890 that your edits to the "thunderstorm" page were not an improvement, for two reasons: One, those edits looked like original research, were largely unsourced, and "While these models are not yet widely accepted..." is an open admission that it's a fringe theory. Two, the section was far too detailed compared to the rest of the article, discussing individual thunderstorms at length. That's not appropriate for a general article on thunderstorms. Given your comments here and this, which shows that you are apparently the "Owner/Operator" of Coastwise Navigation, it's pretty obvious that your recent edits are at least in part to try & promote your work and the work of your company, which is really not what Wikipedia is for. As a meteorologist myself, what you're trying to push here is not really a "model" at all. Please take this into consideration in the future. Guy1890 (talk) 21:44, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
