More "My RfA" stuff

Wow, this just keeps getting worse. There haven't been any support votes for over 12 hours, and I have nearly as many opposes as supports. I'll probably withdraw if I get no more supports and at least 30 opposes. —The Great Llamamoo? 01:46, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

I've withdrawn; I'd need a lot more support votes to have any chance of succeeding. I think I'll take a semi-wikibreak now, I'm pretty stressed from this whole thing. I'll go on every day, but not edit as much. —The Great Llamamoo? 13:48, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the "card"! The monkey looks a bit evil, though. —The Great Llamamoo? 13:50, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Re:Interesting

Thank you! You are doing plenty right, on both the encyclopedia side of Wikipedia (improving articles) and the community side (interacting with your fellow editors). Yeah, when I flip to a random Bible passage, I often find something that somehow ties into Wikipedia. --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 04:40, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

That's unfortunate... although Llama Man will probably be successful in a future RfA if he takes the constructive criticism into consideration. I see that you changed your signature so that both the word and the musical note link to your user page. Sometime I might make my Latin username, Phocoena Glauca, appear as my signature. Speaking of Latin, are you involved in any other language Wikipedias? I spend most of my time on the English version, but I've made a few edits on the Spanish edition (where my name is Marsopa Gris), the Latin Wikipedia (where it's Phocoena Glauca), and the Scots Wikipedia (where it's Grey Porpoise). --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 04:55, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

This has nothing to do with our current conversation, but your user and user talk pages are very well formatted! Maybe I could learn some coding tricks from viewing your user page's source :) I like the dog at the beginning of the user talk page. --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 05:04, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Also, it was funny to see the edit that you made to my editor review. My personality is rather weird for a guy and really weird for a girl... I'll just let people make assumptions! ;) --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 05:07, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

It's excellent that you make such frequent use of your edit summaries! Some people don't care whether summaries are left, but I think it's important. There are signs that have told me that I edit Wikipedia too much. For example, when I brushed my teeth, I wanted to leave an edit summary for it! :0 --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 20:18, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Tee-hee... I often neglect the summary of my status. I was changing it just as you sent me the message. --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 20:16, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

My RfA seems to be turning out in my favour, so I'm not really nervous. However, I think I'll still be shocked if I look at the Main Page and the "view source" tab has become an "edit this page" tab. Thanks for commenting on my userpage. I changed it because bright green reminds me nothing of porpoises. --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 20:46, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

I've said this before, but I'm sure you'll become an administrator someday if you remain the excellent contributor that you are. --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 20:52, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

I am excellent :) tee hee._Seadog 20:54, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

The weirdest subpage you've ever seen probably gained its status because it was created by the weirdest Wikipedian you've seen! 8) --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 21:00, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Just a short note to say thank you for supporting me in my RfA. My nomination succeeded. I appreciate your support. Thanks again! =) -- Gogo Dodo 05:02, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Response

Thanks Arjun, for your quick response ... and it is a bonus that our opinions on the topic match :-)

As for wikipedia policy: I think most of them are common-sensical + I have been a consumer (and occasional IP editor) at wikipedia for ~ 5 years, so I may have absorbed some of them unconsciously. Abecedare 06:13, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

minor but its not counted if people change their mind? Simply south 19:38, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

I am confused on what you are trying to say, if you look at the RFA you will notice that there are three oppose votes.--Seadog 19:53, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Yeah but just below your support vote, Doug Bell has changed his vote to oppose. Simply south 20:36, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you Arjun, but how did you know I had been reverting? I have only made 14 reverts so far, and I need 21 more. What about you, are you reverting, or just editing? | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 21:06, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Thanks for reverting that vandalism on my userpage. If those vandals are trying to insult me, they're failing; I can't help but laugh when I see what they did! Why did you put a crying emoticon under your mood? --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 23:42, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Oh you are welcome :D My talk page once again was vandalised! I do not know what is going on, for some reason the vandals would rather vandalise my talk page. Oh and the mood was crying because I was listing to Brahms concerto no. 2 3rd movement, which is very, very sad. I usually listen to classical music when I am editing. Cheers.--Seadog 00:01, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

thanks for userpage praise

Hi there, I'm glad you like my new page. I didn't do much except move the userboxes, but it makes for a more uniform look, and puts emphasis on the text rather than all the boxes. Thanks again! --Kyoko 05:33, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your support! What some newly created admins don't notice is that WP:GRFA says not to go around posting thank-yous on every voter's list. Sound interesting? Okay, that's not the name. It's Wikpedia:Wikiproject League of Copyeditors. It's a great project, and we can really use your help! In this project, you help to check grammar, spelling, tone, and etc. You should see the project page for more and accurate info. See, the backlog to the project is infinite. In order to clear it, we have to recruit members. We will be grateful for any help you can give us. Can't finish an article by yourself? You can request for someone to help you on that article on the project page. All that and more, my friend. Please consider joining The League! Thanks, Seadog! Your to-do list

Hey, your to-do list indicates that you have a severe case of Editcountitis! May I suggest adding some other goals such as contributing to Featured Articles, the ultimate state of an article, similar to Moksha or least to Good Article status. I would personally be happy to have participated in writing a Featured Article than have 50,000 edits for instance. But that is my opinion and you can aspire to whatever you want my friend! GizzaChat © 06:14, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Oh I agree I wrote that in a large hurry, Of course the greatest goal is to work on FAs and FLs and even Good articles. I did not wan't it to come across that way...I will change. Cheers! — Seadog 13:13, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Remember that templates on user talk pages should generally be substed, to avoid cases like this; the deletion of this page left a few holes in earlier discussions. You should go through the pages where this message is transcluded and replace it with the historically correct original content. Here's the deleted content for reference: Femto 14:59, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

This is Seadog e and it has come to my attention that you seem to be useing Wikipedia only for vandalism. This will not be tolerated any further, if you vandalise again you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you have any questions about this warning please let me know on my talk page. Thank you.

Wow, I just saw the big cross - scared me for a sec! Then I read the rest of the message ;) riana_dzasta 15:40, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Hee hee I know, I was a little concerned wen I saw the huge red X of doom. But then I Remembered that this is a vandalism template I made a while ago (which I do not use any more) and I never knew how to subst: templates so that is what caused this confusion. I requested for deletion along with some of my other useless subpage...basically I am spring cleaning all the subpages that are of no use. Cheers! — Seadog 15:46, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I like it - it's a lot like Essjay's, though, isn't it? ;) Make sure you give him credit for it! Errr, I like both, to be honest... maybe you should have a poll on your talkpage :) riana_dzasta 18:34, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, they're both great :) I want to change the colours on mine to something a bit more cheerful (but not too cheerful! Nothing fluorescent!), but I can't decide what! There has to be some dark green, but I don't know what to use along with it. riana_dzasta 18:45, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello

Hiya Seadog! Thanks for the award. I had to go Christmas shopping yesterday, and I didn't get a chance to respond! I have one question, though. Is there any way to see your total number of edits? (the EXACT amount) King Toadsworth "The Princess is in Another Castle (Again)" 22:58, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Yep there is a way, for you all you have to do is click Edit Count but try not to do it all the time or you will end up like some of us who check it each time we log on! :). Hope it helps. — Seadog 23:10, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Holy ****! That is awesome!!!!! (Sorry for the language...) I liked your old one bu this is awesome/cool/freaky (in a good way)/tremendous/remarkable/breath-taking/astounding/titanic!!!!!!!!! The problem with your rollback is you probably have it unchecked. Click the box on the left hand side that says "use non-admin rollback" that should fix your reverting problems. — Seadog 21:06, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I did that, but nothing happens. I just go to "history", and revert from there. | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 21:41, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks...It is kind of hard to accept as I basically used some coding from Essjay, I particularly like my new one better since it is more open and free rather than hidden away in little boxes ;), and I love having images on my userpage like I do now. userpage

Well, there's actually a bunch of reasons why I changed the sig! I wanted to (a) make it shorter, (b) make it easier for people who are trying to contact me, and (c) make it harder for vandals to mess with my userpage :) (Yes, this is Riana thinking!) riana_dzasta 01:26, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Sig

The mentions on the RfA are the first complaints I've had about my sig; I had two questions as to why; I trust this variant answers your objection. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 18:11, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Okay thank you for being civil, but I opposed on the merits that you recently broke the 3 revert rule. I also opposed on the gronds that your sig at the time was breaking the Sig guidline that says "Users should choose a signature name that is either identical or closely related to their account name. Signatures that obscure an account name to the casual reader may be seen as disruptive. Signatures must also follow our username policy." , I see that you have changed it a little bit by making the Pmanderson link to your talk page. But I am still iffy about the 3 revert rule. Sorry, I will be willing to Support you next time around as you should be a very strong candidate then...just watch out for that 3rr and you should be fine. — Seadog 18:18, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
I would appreciate support; but since this change to my sig is being done because it was requested, it would also be nice to know that whether it answers your objections, however you !vote. It would be pointless to expect people to adapt to a new sig if those who found the old one unclear still object. I do not want to simply change my sig, because some people know me by this name; I do not want to change username, because others know me by that - and it would be a headache for WP:CHU to reassign all my edits. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 18:38, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
As for the 3RR; I can only repeat that it was sheer inadvertence; I thought I had changed to a new text and had lost count over the 23 hours. Unless there is a sudden change of sentiment and the request passes, I will accept no invitation for at least two months, and will consult with you if I am invited shortly after that. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 18:38, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

N I understand what you mean by the username change, I wanted to change my username but I didn't want to give everybody a headache doing all the resigning of edits. I will still oppose for the 3RR, I understand it was an accident but you should have waited longer due to these circumstances. I hope I have not caused you any grief, I will honestly support you in a future RFA but right now I can't. Also I do not like the fact that you are trying to convince me to change my mind, but I wish you Good luck. — Seadog 18:44, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Re:Any reason to worry

Although it shouldn't really matter, some people will probably bring up the age factor into your RfA. The best thing to do is not to spread your age to every person on Wikipedia. It can sometimes bite back at you, so I suggest removing such personal details. I already did so. Nishkid64 18:59, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Wanna be surprised?

User:Kyo cat/Happiness

Hi, Seadog. Wondering what this is? That spanish word means "friend", and this little thingie is my token of appreciation, for being someone who can make me laugh, helping me in my time of need, being kind, and you are everything else a treasured friend is. Guitarists

If you like Hendrix and classical, you will likely appreciate Steve Morse, Alan Holdsworth, and (acoustic) Alex DeGrassi (earliest is best IMO). And I'd bet you'd like Brahms and Berlioz. Skyemoor 21:44, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Umm...Okay, yeah I have a passion for Jimi Hendrix and also for classical music such as Brahms (Love his second concerto) and of course Beethoven. Well thanks! Cheers. — Seadog 21:45, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Actually, I was about to congratulate you for being on the ref desk. That's the first time I see you there. That was one of the first places where I started editing... I've learned a lot so far, and I hope you learn too! | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 13:49, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I mainly try to help out with various religion questions and defiantly music questions. Yes I have learned quite a few things from being a casual observer of the reference desk. Cheers! — Seadog 13:53, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Well then, step it up from casual to usual! :-) | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 14:00, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks again! At least it was funny this time. I'm not sure why he vandalized though, it doesn't seem like I've warned him; then again, it might be the same vandal again... :-) | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 14:06, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

I was trying to see where I should report the User:Ski clown/User:217.42.215.150 relation, but I guess AIV was an easier option. | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 14:16, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Done Well I have already reported the IP adress, now it is up to an admin to decide. Also I do not think that Ski clown has vandalized lately. So we should keep an eye on that. — Seadog 14:18, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Fixed username. I think he hasn't vandalized because he was blocked, leading to the "you can't get rid of me" ect. vandalism. | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 14:20, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Oh, well that is good, yeah it is a little strange to see a vandal that goes around saying "Can't block me" and then 5 minutes later they are indef blocked. So that is   DoneSeadog 14:22, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, his username has been blocked, as well as his IP (unless it's not him), so, I guess that makes us the bus drivers. :-) | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 14:24, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
I am not 100% sure that the IP address was actully him...since when you get blocked you also get auto blocked (most of the time) meaning that you can't edit under an IP or a newer account until the block has been lifted. — Seadog 14:27, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Maybe from a different computer; that would be easy. | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 14:31, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
True, I guess some vandals will be willing to do so. — Seadog 14:35, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Don't trust anyone my friend... ;-) | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 14:38, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Tis true — those vandals are tricky! — Seadog 14:41, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Not that we're jealous or anything of the sort. :-) | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 14:44, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
True, we shall not be moved or crushed by vandals! Well I probably shouldn't have said that out loud. Cheers! — Seadog 14:46, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
I concur. Cheers, and drink good beer! | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 14:48, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Hee hee, I don't drink :). — Seadog 14:50, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
