Current requests for reduction in protection level edit
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Current requests for edits to a protected page edit
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
Israel–Hamas war edit
Change "Since the start of the Israeli operation, more than 35,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed,[86] including over 15,000 children and 10,000 women.[87][88]" to "Since the start of the Israeli operation, nearly 35,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed,[86] including over 7,000 children and nearly 5,000 women.[87][88]." This is based on the data recently revised by the UN, accessible here: https://www.ochaopt.org/content/hostilities-gaza-strip-and-israel-reported-impact-day-215. ConDissenter (talk) 21:21, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- Is there another place to request this change? The talk page for Israel-Hamas war is restricted as well. The current source for casualty data is palinfo.com, which describes itself by saying it "does not lay any claim to neutrality for it blatantly sides with the oppressed Palestinian people." https://english.palinfo.com/about-us/. Recognizing that reliable sources do not need to have a neutral POV, why should we use this as a source rather than a less biased source like the United Nations? ConDissenter (talk) 18:28, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- @ConDissenter Please go check Talk:Israel–Hamas war for earlier discussions and to see why your request is unlikely to succeed. FYI, the lower numbers refer not to the killed overall but to the killed who have additionally been identified by name. Besides, all the numbers are sourced to Gaza MoH anyway. — kashmīrī TALK 09:45, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply, Kashmiri. I recognize the data is all coming from the same place. (I've tried to access but can't find a reliable site for the Gaza Health Ministry to find the data directly, so I assume the UN is accurately presenting the data.) I agree it hasn't changed the total number killed which is why I didn't suggest a change to that -- beyond fixing the "more than" to "nearly" 35,000. But I don't see any basis for keeping outdated numbers on women and children. The old ratio was 72% and the new ratio was 52%. The talk page suggests we need to wait for more RS, but at this point there are plenty:
- https://www.npr.org/2024/05/15/1251265727/un-gaza-death-toll-women-children
- https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/13/middleeast/death-toll-gaza-fatalities-un-intl-latam/index.html
- https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/gaza-women-children-death-toll-1.7203167
- Is there any way to flag this for the editors of that page, even on the Talk page? ConDissenter (talk) 23:40, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- The text of the article has now gotten worse. It says "Since the start of the Israeli operation, more than 35,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed, including over 15,000 children and 10,000 women. Over 10,000 others are missing and presumed trapped under rubble." This implies either that there are 45,000 killed total, or ALL of the 25,000 identified are women and children. I've been following Talk:Israel–Hamas war on this subject and the contributors seem to be talking at loggerheads. How is this supposed to work? Now the text of the article is at odds with most RS. E.g., https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/what-we-know-about-the-death-toll-in-gaza/ar-BB1mzqUT. ConDissenter (talk) 23:58, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- @ConDissenter Please go check Talk:Israel–Hamas war for earlier discussions and to see why your request is unlikely to succeed. Autopatrolled editUser:Prince of Erebor edit
I have created 80 articles, primarily focused on Sinophone cinema and fantasy literature, with 2 currently undergoing GAN. All of my articles have been promptly reviewed, and none of them have been deleted or marked for maintenance. I am requesting autopatrolled rights to alleviate the workload of the patrollers, especially those who actively review film articles and have reviewed the majority of my articles, allowing them to allocate more time to address articles that truly require attention. As a side note, I am a veteran editor with patroller rights on Chinese Wikipedia, having authored over 200 articles, including a dozen featured and good articles. While I fully understand that there are differences in policies and MOS across different Wikipedias, I believe this demonstrates my credibility and knowledge in assessing article quality.— Prince of Erebor(The Book of Mazarbul) 13:18, 1 May 2024 (UTC) User:SheriffIsInTown edit
I frequently create articles on notable subjects, having authored 530 articles, with the majority facing no issues. Only three were deleted, mainly due to changes in election results affecting their notability. New page reviewer editUser:Florificapis edit
I got busy in real life for most of March and April, so my request was put on hold per [3]. Here is my original reason for requesting NPR permissions again. I have over 120 new articles under my belt, mostly relating to medieval history, monasteries, saints, and geographical features. I am familiar with the kinds of content that would fall under CSD criteria, since I have experience wikifying new pages and tagging obviously problematic new pages for speedy deletion. I know the guidelines on notability, proper sourcing, draftifying new articles, rating talk pages using scripts, AfC, AfD, and other essential patrolling tasks. Would be quite happy to reduce the backlog while being cautious and careful. Also currently a Pending Changes Reviewer. Florificapis (talk) 00:09, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

I would like to participate in the NPP backlog drive.
User:TarnishedPath edit
I participated in the December backlog drive, being granted a trial. At the end of the trial I requested permanent NPP, which was denied with the denying admin expressing concern that I hadn't created any articles. I've since created an article about Neeraj Gupta (refer to User_talk:TarnishedPath/Archive_2#Your_submission_at_Articles_for_creation:_Neeraj_Gupta_(sculptor)_has_been_accepted) and been responsible for the bulk of the material in the newly created article Bruce Lehrmann. I had been working on Draft:Bruce Lehrmann but someone else started work on Bruce Lehrmann just as I submitted Draft:Bruce Lehrmann to AfC so I ended up merging my work over to the mainspace article and issuing a CSD for deletion of the draft. I've continued to be semi-regularly involved with AfD. I'm applying because I got a notification a while ago that there was a backlog drive for May and I'm willing to help out a bit with that. Hello. I was initially given a month long trial as a new page reviewer after receiving an invitation on my user page, and I've been enjoying everything so far: reviewing pages, providing feedback, sending WikiLove to new and returning users who have made exceptional first attempts, tagging issues, and resolving issues myself (that could otherwise be tagged) when I have time in an attempt to reduce the backlog. I have already been renewed once, and my second trial expires in a little over two weeks (May 26th). I'm requesting either an indefinite or longer-term ability to review new pages before my time lapses. Haven't had any behavioral issues, and I try to treat all users with respect. I will continue to help clear the backlog in the meantime. Thanks again. Trainsskyscrapers (talk) 00:06, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi! I was granted a one month trial with the NPP right and feel as though I did a decent job. I mainly focused on marking obviously acceptable articles. I didn't do a ton of reviewing, but I then again I felt like doing more than a handful a day would have been overstepping the constraints of a trial permission. If it is ok with the coordinating admins, I'd like to keep using the NPP right; feel welcome to simply renew the trial period for another month if you need more indication that I'll stick to procedure. ~ Pbritti (talk) 13:29, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Was hoping to contribute with working on the backlog here. I have rollback and have been working on RCP, but looking to expand my experience a bit. Not much to brag about with new article creation, but there's a limited sample there I stand behind. I'm decently acquainted with the AfD scene, and have been working with new (often problematic) users and editors as best I can from RCP. I was removed from probationary AFC due to inactivity, but I'm planning to be online more in the immediate future. Also have worked with copyvio patrol and have done the oddball GA review. Looking forward to help, and happy to discuss any questions. Thanks! Bgv. (talk) 21:09, 20 May 2024 (UTC) User:Tajotep edit

I've been editing Wikipedia since 2004 and have been mainly working on articles about New Zealand, musical instruments, and wine. I've helped build several articles up to GA (cimbasso, serpent, contrabass trombone, soprano trombone) and reviewed several others. It would be good to be able to approve pending useful contributions to protected articles; the current article that prompted this request is the trombone article, which I'd also like to work on. I have been editing the English Wikipedia for about five years now, and have made approximately 7,300 edits. I am an active user, and currently monitor around 1400 pages. I also have a good understanding of the relevant policies and the guideline on reviewing; per the criteria to receive this permission. Demetrios1993 (talk) 02:18, 19 May 2024 (UTC)

Rollback editUser:BerryForPerpetuity edit
I'm applying for rollback rights in order to help with my current recent changes patrolling. With rollback rights, I will gain access to more advanced counter-vandalism tools like AntiVandal and Huggle. I have been patrolling for about a month and made plenty of AIV reports (all of which were successful). BerryForPerpetuity (talk) 12:38, 21 May 2024 (UTC) User:DANGA14 edit
I patrol a lot at RC, have made 216 edits, constantly warns users of vandalism, does not edit war. I'm not part of the CVU, but i revert vandalism quite a lot. DANGA14talk 12:21, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

Requests for template editor |

Template editor editUser:Sundostund edit
Hello. I am re-applying for template editor rights, which I was granted on a temporary basis by Primefac (permalink) on 24 February; it is about to expire at 00:00, on 24 May. As I promised in my original request back in February, and as can be seen, I didn't misuse this right in any way. I used it in a very responsible manner, on a periodical basis, and I'm no longer obliged to bother others with template-protected edit requests, and basically have them to do my work for me when it comes to HRTs. Naturally, I would prefer if this right is extended on a permanent basis, but that is up to admins to decide. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 13:23, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

There are a number of highly visible protected templates inside my bots' userspace that I'd like to be able to modify again now that I am no longer an admin: |
