This user believes in the use of semi-protection for all Biographies of living people.

This user demands flagged revisions NOW and refuses to do vandal fighting.

I recognize that this user page belongs to the Wikipedia project and not to me personally. As such, I recognize that I am expected to respectfully abide by community standards as to the presentation and content of this page, and that if I do not like these guidelines, I am welcome either to engage in reasonable discussion about it, to publish my material elsewhere, or to leave the project.

Intent of this page

This page is was intended to capture a list of BLPs that are candidates for, or have already received, semiprotection from me (or one of my TPWs), because they have been the target of simple vandalism from IPs or newly registered users that was not swiftly dealt with.

HOWEVER, this process has been sunsetted. Please use the normal process or if you really want to ask me directly, use my talk page.

Criteria for listing an article here

The criteria are (fairly arbitrarily chosen):

  • The article is a BLP
  • Since the last time semiprotection expired (if any), the article has received:
    • EITHER at least two vandalisms from IPs or newly registered users (the kind of vandalism that semiprotection stops) each of which lasted at least 5 minutes before being reverted,
    • OR one vandalism from an IP or newly registered user that lasted at least an hour before being reverted.
    • OR 10 vandalisms (of any duration, even momentary) within any 1 month span from IPs or newly registered users.
  • You are willing to sign your name requesting that it be protected. No anons or newly registered users, sorry. (you'll note THIS page is semiprotected to enforce that)

Listing process

This is intended to be a simple process. To list a BLP give the following things:

  • All relevant article links, using {{article}} to list the article.
  • A link to a diff showing each qualifying vandalism and how long it lasted.
  • If the vandalism is by a newly registered user rather than an IP, give a link to the log for that user.
  • Your signature.

Evaluation process

To handle a BLP do the following:

  • Be an admin. I can't help you with this one.
  • Visit the article, make sure it's a BLP
  • Review each diff.
    • Is it vandalism?
    • Is it by an IP or a newly registered user (check the user log linked)?
    • If the diff is to the vandalism rather than the revert, walk the diff forward. How long did the vandalism stand? Was it at least 5 minutes? Was it at least an hour?
    • Count... 2 - five min or more, or 1 - one hour or more, ***SINCE the last time the article was protected, if ever*** and we have a "winner" If not, we have a "loser"
  • In the case that the article is a "winner":
    • Semi protect the article.
      • Set the protection to 1 year if the article has been protected or s-protected before, or 3 months if it's never been protected or s-protected.
      • Include
Per liberal use of semiprotection policy
        or
Per liberal use of semiprotection for BLP articles, <article specific comments>
        or
Per liberal use of semiprotection for BLP articles, multiple previous protections
        or
Per BLP policy and liberal use of semiprotection for BLP articles
in the reason box as needs dictate.
      • Add
        {{pp-semi-vandalism|small=yes}} or {{pp-semi-blp}}
at the top of the article so it's known that it's semiprotected.
    • Strikeout the article name in the list.
    • Below the entry (use "#:" to indent) say "done" or similar and sign. You can say more if you want.
  • If the article is a "loser":
    • Do NOT semi protect the article.
    • Explain why you did not (use "#:" to indent), and sign your name.
  • In the case that the lister didn't list it right and you can't sort out what to do anyway:
    • Explain what the lister did wrong (use "#:" to indent)
    • Sign your name.

Easy peasy.
