BIOGRAPHY:

Genevieve Gregson is a middle-distance runner who specializes in the 5,000-meter run, 3,000 steeplechases, and 1,500-meter run. Genevieve was born in Benowa, Queensland, Australia in 1989. Genevieve LaCaze, whose nickname is Gen, spent her childhood in Brisbane,[1][2]where she attended Tamborine Mountain State School [3] before going to high school at the John Paul College in Daisy Hill.[2][4][5] She is from Queensland.[5]She attended the University of Florida,[2][3][6] where she majored in Social and Behavioral Sciences[2] from 2009 to 2012.[2] She is currently running as an Olympic athlete training for the 2020 Olympics. She is also currently ranked as #16 for the world rankings in the Women's 3000m Steeplechase. As of 2018, Genevieve has been married to Australian athlete Ryan Gregson.

HIGH SCHOOL:

In high school, Genevieve attended the John Paul College class of 2007. She was coached by David Howells and went on to win her most memorable moment of athletic career was placing sixth individually and having her team take fourth at the Cross Country World Schools’ Championship in Riccione, Italy, in 2006. [6]As a teenager, Genevieve LaCaze won the national schools U18 3000m in 2006, before running a PB of 9:38.74 to win silver in the Zatapek U20 race.[7]

COLLEGE:

In her early years as a collegiate runner, Genevieve was recognized for her achievements in the steeplechase. She held the fastest time in the SEC Outdoor 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:26.92. Genevieve had competed in the 5000m at the SEC Outdoor Championships where she would place 9th with a time of 17:01.42 while also placing 3rd at the SEC Outdoor Championships the day prior in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:30.12. She had earned her second SEC Outdoor Championship title in the steeplechase with a time of 10:21.82. while going on to set the school steeplechase record at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a time of 9:59.44. Genevieve would become runner-up at the NCAA Championships and in turn qualify for the Australian Olympic Team in the steeplechase. She would set the school record at the Olympics in London running a time of 9:37.90. [8][6]
