A bit off topic, but I found this article because someone's selling a book by Richard of Wallingford for $2,100 on amazon. Do people spend that much on rare books over amazon? Well, I tagged this article for cleanup and will try to fix it up to my satisfaction. Corrigann 16:53, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

sounds cheap if it's by him. Well, I don't know how much 700-year-old 'books' cost - I know they're priceless, but I don't know how priceless. A book about him, on the other hand - sounds a bit expensive, unless it's by his friend the Abbot... Cormullion 17:54, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Clarification needed for "position"

edit

What "position" is referred to in the following paragraph from the article?

"Richard suffered from what was then thought to be leprosy (although it might have been syphilis, scrofula or tuberculosis) which he apparently contracted when he went to have his position confirmed by the Pope at Avignon. He died at St Albans."

If, as I'm assuming (I know nothing about the subject), it's his ecclessiastical position then it needs to say so. I suggest: "...when he went to have his position as abbot confirmed by the Pope...." Random Passer-by 02:23, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
