Paleo-orthodoxy and the Convergence Movement are not the same. Paleo-orthodoxy is theological, whilst Convergence has some theological aspects but also has to do with liturgy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:8080:2302:BC93:8DF3:F92B:7FFE:B3D8 (talk) 05:16, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Citations for Critics and Defenders edit

Section discussing critics and defenders of paleo-orthodoxy begins with weasel words ("Some people think...") and makes several controversial claims without citing any supporting references. From what I know of paleo-orthodoxy the criticisms cited in the article are actually not generally made and smack of an attempt at painting it as just another form of fundamentalism. I placed [who?] and [citation needed] tags on this section and will leave them up for a while to see if corroboration is added. If not I believe the entire section should be removed as unsubstantiated and not written from a neutral point of view. Pleonic (talk) 21:53, 26 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I heartily agree. This section stinks like original research. That said, I'm sure there are plenty of critics of paleo-orthodoxy, so methinks the thing to do is rework the section, amending it to agree with actual, cited critics of paleo-orthodoxy. Lack of information edit

The neo-orthodoxy article outlines the tenets of the school, but this article appears to have no such information. Can someone rectify this please? Rhomboid Man 16:57, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Faulty Link edit

The article is good, but the link to Christopher Hall gives you several Christopher Halls to chose from, none of which is the Christopher Hall implied in the article, a living teacher of theology, I know not where. – — … ° ≈ ≠ ≤ ≥ ± − × ÷ ← → · § Beau in NC (talk) 18:53, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Created an article on the Christopher Hall intended, then linked it to the citation in this article. Pleonic (talk) 21:31, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Paleo-Orthodoxy and Radical Orthodoxy edit

Lacking expertise in this field, it appears on the surface that "Paleo-Orthodoxy" has a similarity to the ideas of "Radical Orthodoxy", both seeking a return to classical Christianity and the teachings of the church fathers. Could someone with some expertise in this field compare/contrast the two theological sensibilities. How do these both relate to the Convergence Movement and to Robert E Webber's call for an "Ancient-Future Faith"? LAWinans (talk) 19:39, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Wikipedia entry on "Radical Orthodoxy" says, "The name "Radical Orthodoxy" emphasises the movement's attempt to return to or revive traditional doctrine." This appears identical to the meaning of "Paleo-Orthodoxy". LAWinans (talk) 16:36, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Palaeo- ? edit

Does the (British) variant palaeo-orthodoxy have sufficient presence to justify including it as an alternative spelling? I have found one article on the net that uses it (Wikipedia History of Christianity). Annoyingly, Google includes "paleo-" in the results, and I don't feel inclined to wade through looking for the few variant ones. Koro Neil (talk) 05:37, 23 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Maxie Dunnam edit

Maxie Dunnam was added to the list of Paleo-Orthodox scholars that contributed to Ancient & Modern Christianity: Paleo-Orthodoxy in the 21st Century, but he is not listed as a contributor in the book itself. Also there was no reference to identify him as being part of this movement. For these reasons I removed the reference to him -- at least until someone can provide evidence that he does adhere to Paleo-Orthodoxy.

Dunnam is involved in the Methodist Confessing Movement but this is not a sure indicator that one professes Paleo-Orthodoxy. They are separate, though sometimes related, things. Pleonic (talk) 03:14, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Promotional edit

This article borders on the promotional for Thomas C. Oden, describing him as "dominant" and listing 7 of his books. Can we bring it in line with the neutral point of view guideline? (WP:NPOV) - Epinoia (talk) 19:49, 15 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Merge proposal edit

This article should be merged with Convergence Movement, which is a different name for the same thing. (There's a proper way to do a merge proposal, but I will have to figure it out.) - cheers, Epinoia (talk) 00:03, 27 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Epinoia Definitely NOT the same things. 2603:8080:2302:BC93:79AF:196:7CF1:843C (talk) 19:24, 3 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
