Talk:Decriminalization of homosexuality in Ecuador

Proposed merge of Case No. 111-97-TC with Decriminalization of homosexuality in Ecuador edit

These two articles are about the same topic, or at least so closely overlapping to make two separate articles unnecessary. (t · c) buidhe 07:15, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

I support this merge proposition and this also makes sense as a place where the pages could be put into one. Jorahm (talk) 17:33, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I think the articles need to remain separate. The decriminalization of homosexuality in Ecuador was a long process in which many different strategies were tried out by LGBT organizations, a process of more than a decade. The court case was ultimately the way in which it was achieved, but that was only a small part of the process. Now, I believe that the court case itself is also relevant enough to have its own article, as it was a landmark Supreme Court case with far reaching consequences in legal jurisprudence in the years since. The court case article is small and it needs more content, but that does not mean its not relevant enough by itself. It needs more information about legal arguments in favor and against, the court's ruling criteria, the reception of the ruling, etc. However, as said, they are both relevant topics separately.--Freddy eduardo (talk) 16:28, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
