Emo Genre should be added.

Seeking consensus to add Emo genre. There are multiple reliable sources, that mention Emo genre, when describing this album. Emo hairstyles and makeup were also part of this album's era, so it's very obvious that this was always Jared Leto's intention with this album. This can be seen especially well in "The Kill" music video. Other Wikipedia users also seem to agree, that Emo should be added, so i think it makes sense. IchWill23 (talk) 14:14, 2 June 2024 (UTC)

TerminatorZXY, before adding any genre you need to discuss with other users and find WP:CONSENSUS. As I already explained to you, both genres you added result to be unsourced, since the reviews you cite do not describe the album as an emo or post-hardcore record. Also, the Sputnikmusic link you added cannot be used since it's a user review, not a professional one. Sources on Wikipedia have to be WP:VERIFIABLE and WP:RELIABLE. Please check WP:ALBUM/REVSIT to have a list of reliable sources. Past discussions have shown there are plenty of genres used by critics for the band and their records, so users found that alternative rock was the musical genre that could best describe the style and tendency of the album. Album has been described as Emo in multiple sources, reviews and also in Thirty Seconds to Mars main article. Emo is not the only genre on album, but it's absolutely part of the album and always has been. Song "The Kill" has been described as Emo countless of times. Well actually never mind. If you want this article to be incorrect, good for you. Thankfully on other sites, reviews, sources and different language Wikipedia pages of this album, have the correct information about the genres, where "Emo" (music genre) is present. TerminatorZXY, i 100% agree with you and you are correct, Post-Hardcore and Emo are both correct genres for this album. To be more specific, this album has 4 main genres, these are- Alternative rock, Hard rock, Post-hardcore and Emo. Sadly user "Earthh" keeps deleting Emo, despite the fact, that it is absolutely correct genre for this album. So yeah, there's nothing i can do about it, but hopefully people will find correct information for this album, from somewhere else. As of right now, this article is incomplete. Supposed subliminal messages

One of the pieces of trivia states that the "The Kill" video contains subliminal messages. While I don't wholly agree with that statement, I believe that is a true enough statement. I myself don't think they are subliminal. But that's not what I wanted to mention. When I read the bit about subliminal messages I looked in the video I found (ripped from Rage TV) and found the flashed frames were at something more like 3:09, 3:11, and 4:11. "Praying for a Riot" bonus track

The "hidden track" on A Beautiful Lie has no official title. Neither Jared Leto, nor any other member of 30 Seconds to Mars have made any such claims, publication or statement in regards to a title for the hidden track on 'A Beautiful Lie'.

The incorrect title "Praying for a Riot" actually stems from the official 30 Seconds to Mars fan forums, a place which is notorious for it's misinformation regarding the band and it's music. During a fan discussion on what THEY (the fans) call the hidden track, one fan created the title "7 Corners". Another fan reportedly claims that Jared had told them it's called "Praying for a Riot" - the title which has now been adopted by the fan-base and accordingly spread across the Internet. Some online stores have actually adopted this track title and included it in their tracklistings - presumably taking the information from Wikipedia in doing so. This does NOT make the title official - it just proves that it's easy to spread misinformation across the Internet.

Bottom line; you will find no such title printed anywhere on the CD's, on any official 30 Seconds to Mars merchandise or media, nor in any official interviews with the band. Because Wikipedia only lists factual information that can be supported, this title should not be listed on the 'A Beautiful Lie' page. VincePirez (talk) 12:11, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Obviously, a lot of attention has gone into this article. :) In order to be properly assessed by the WP:ALBUM criteria, information on which specific band members performed on this album needs to be included in personnel. No i strongly disagree. This is objectively wrong. 30 Seconds to Mars has never made Screamo music, but emo is absolutely correct for many songs on this album and emo genre needs to be added to the article. One correct music genre is missing from the article.

"Emo" music genre has been used by professional music critics and also music fans to describe "A Beautiful Lie" since 2005. "A Beautiful lie" is an album, that has multiple different music genres, depending on a song. For example song "The Kill" has been described by professional music critics as "Emo" and "Hard rock". This is one of the most popular songs on the album. Main genres of "A Beautiful Lie" (album) are- "Alternative rock", "Hard rock", Post-hardcore" and "Emo". This is common knowledge among music critics and music listeners. Multiple music related sites, such as "Rate Your Music" include "Emo" as a genre to describe this album. Professional review on AllMusic ends with this- "this is as earnest as an emo record gets.". In Thirty Seconds to Mars Wikipedia article, under section "Musical style", this album has been described as "Hard rock" and "Emo". Sadly Wikipedia user "Earthh" keeps removing this important music genre from this article, even tho i added reputable source for it. I have no idea why this user keeps removing this genre, because this genre very obviously belongs into this article and is important. Without this genre, this article is incomplete and also objectively incorrect. Thankfully Wikipedia articles in other languages, include "Emo" genre, so i guess people just have to find correct information for this album, from other sources. I'm not seeking any consensus here, because it's very clear that user "Earthh" refuses to add this genre to this article. But i think it's at least fair to let people know, what is going on with this article and why "Emo" is missing from "A Beautiful Lie" article. Thank you for reading.
