Refractory? edit
With such a high melting point (the highest of any binary compound according to hafnium), why is it important to avoid heat (twice!) and open flames? All around this stuff sounds pretty inert.
- Could be subtle vandalism.
- The thought crossed my mind, but it just looks really careless. So do we have a connoisseur in the house? ;v) Or was hafnium carbide near a heat source on the USS Maine? Potatoswatter 04:09, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Nuclear control rods? edit
Removed reference to use of HfC in nuclear control rods. I can't find any reference to that application aside from this Wikipedia article.Apirkle (talk) 20:16, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
