I think the X40 was the designation for the prototype J-53 engine, which produced 17500 pounds of thrust, although I can't find anything to confirm that definitively, just information that the X-6 had 4 General Electric J-53 engines. The Dark 23:30, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
