Richard T. Sale (March 26, 1939 - May 9, 2020) was an American journalist and author, best known for exclusive reports on the Middle East and the U.S. military, as well as intelligence analysis. He authored three books: Clinton’s Secret Wars, The Evolution of a Commander in Chief; Traitors: The Worst Acts of Treason in U.S. History from Benedict Arnold to Robert Hanssen; and an account of living with a Chicago street gang, The Blackstone Rangers.

Sale has worked for The Washington Post and The San Francisco Examiner. He worked for UPI as a special correspondent for five years.[1]

Sale has won a number of awards and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.[1]

The Blackstone Rangers is a book-length investigative report on the Black P. Stone Rangers. Sale is also the author of Traitors: The Worst Acts of Treason in American History from Benedict Arnold to Robert Hanssen (2003) and Clinton’s Secret Wars.[2]
