Tristan Lambert is an American chemist and the William T. Miller Professor of Chemistry at Cornell University, where he has also served as the chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology since 2023.[1]
Early life and education edit
Lambert was born in 1976 in Madison, Wisconsin, later moving to the nearby town of Black Earth.[2] In 1998, he earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville[3]. Lambert then started graduate school at University of California, Berkley with his advisor as David MacMillan. Lambert moved along with MacMillan to Caltech, where he was awarded a Ph.D.[4] His thesis work involved the development and application of novel Claisen rearrangements[5]. Lambert moved to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to pursue postdoctoral studies under Samuel Danishefsky from 2004 to 2006.[6]
Career edit
In 2006, Lambert joined the faculty of Columbia University in the department of chemistry.[7] In 2011, he became an Associate Professor, and in 2016 he was promoted to Full Professor. In January 2018, Lambert transferred to Cornell University. In 2023, he was named the William T. Miller Professor of Chemistry and later that year became the department chair of Chemistry and Chemical Biology.[8]
