Zoë Lister (born 10 March 1982) is an English actress from Stoke Prior, Worcestershire, best known for playing Zoe Carpenter in British soap Hollyoaks. She grew up in Callow Hill near Redditch.[citation needed] where she has lived for most of her life. She trained at the Starlight School of Dance in Winyates, Redditch.[citation needed] Previous to landing her role in Hollyoaks, she worked as a dancer and singer.[citation needed] The part of Zoe Carpenter is her debut professional role.[1]
Television, Film and Stage
Zoe's first and only professional TV role to date has been the role of Zoe Carpenter in Hollyoaks which she has played since 2006. In 2008 Lister performed How Much Is That Doggy In The Window live at the Number One Project concert in front of a sold out Echo Arena in Liverpool along with fellow cast members Loui Batley, Helen Noble and Sarah Jayne Dunn Later in the year she appeared as a guest on Big Brother's Little Brother and also presented at T4 On The Beach In 2009 she performed a Queen Medley on Children In Need alongside other Hollyoaks cast members. During 2010 Lister appeared in the play 'The Stanhope Sisters' as Kitty Dutton at The Red Hedgehog in Highgate, London.[2] From the 16th of August 2010 until the 4th of December 2010 Zoe tours the UK in the comedy play Teechers as Gail.
Personal life
On 19 August 2008 it was announced that Lister was to do the Great North Run to raise money for the Parkinsons Disease Society. Lister's grandmother was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease shortly before her death earlier this year. The 13.1 mile run between Newcastle and South Shields took place on 5 October 2008.[3] Lister revealed in her Hollyoaks Backstage video that she shared a house with co-star Gerard McCarthy, who plays Kris Fisher.[4][5]
Awards and nominations
In 2010 Lister won the British Soap Awards for the category of Spectacular Scene of the Year for "The Parachute Jump" scene, and in 2007 and 2008 she was Nominated for the category Sexiest Female at British Soap Awards[6]
Contributions to Digital Modeling
In 2012 and 2013, Lister assisted researchers at Toshiba’s Cambridge Research Lab and the University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering to develop "Zoe," a virtual "talking head" which can express a full range of human emotions. [7]
