Speedy Deletion

I have proposed this is a deletion page. I have been told self-references are banned, why should we have to stick to one rule and Wikipedia to another? I think it is sick HoOhMajor 10:53, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Page move to "Wikipedia:" namespace?

Wikipedia is not for things made up in school one day. That policy guideline specifically mentions the recurring degrees-of-separation games as "that infamous game" - Wikington Crescent should perhaps be in the "Wikipedia:" namespace (along with Wikipedia:Wikirace and the others), although I'm not sure what criteria there are for the namespace. --McGeddon 11:29, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Example needed?

I know it might not be in the spirit of the game, but having claimed that you can reach Mornington Crescent tube station from Matterhorn in four moves, wouldn't it be helpful to say how this can be achieved? While this could be considered to spoil the fun, there is always the possibility that the pages in question could be edited to move or remove the links subsequently, and hence break the claim.

Unfortunately, I do not have time to try and work out the claimed route - the starting link from Matterhorn is not obvious, even though later links could be guessed at. Maybe I should put {{fact}} there instead?

The route from London is fairly obvious, except that London Underground uses a picture caption, which could easily be replaced (although I suspect it may have been placed by someone playing this game! Cheating, methinks?). However, the England route is not obvious. You would not necessarily expect the article to contain a London Underground link - and the one that is there is likely to be removed.

One alternative is Matterhorn -> Goldfrapp -> London-> London Underground -> Mornington Crescent tube station.

I don't know how much has changed in two years, but I just got it (straight away, not hitting "back") with Conciousness → Alan Turing → Blue plaque → Mornington Crescent tube station. Cycle~ (talk) 22:42, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

The claimed route above (going via H. G. Wells) no longer works - whatever reference there was to Wells on the Matterhorn page has been removed - we're going to need a new route. Jim (talk) 12:10, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

I have no prefernces, just found the route - it took less than a minute too.

I find Wikington Crescent rather easy, as many articles contain links to the UK or America - which contains a link to UK. No routes have taken me more than 6 clicks. --kylet 00:21, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

A similar game

I've been doing something similar since before I heard of this article. I posted on a forums betting $20 that you can find a link from any Wikipedia article to Hitler. Habnabit 17:52, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

More Rules Needed

As has been pointed out, this is a very easy game, once you get the hang of it.

In the spirit of the original on which it is based, do we need a few more rules, to increase the level of challenge, and to confuse the uninitiated? Riversider2008 (talk) 14:12, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Suggestions for new rules might include banned routes - such as going via the rather obvious 'London Underground' and 'UK',(interestingly, this would not preclude the much quicker and more creative 'blue plaque' route) Riversider2008 (talk) 14:16, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

A whole new level of challenge might be created by using the 'Non-U variation', where all intermediate links containing the letter 'U' are banned. Riversider2008 (talk) 14:21, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Another interesting variant procludes the use of dates as links, as invariably something happens in London in any given year, and thus linking via there to London Underground and to Mornington Crescent become very straightforward.... C2r (talk) 23:09, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
