Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games/Newsletter/20170402/Interview

  • I do not think the difficulty of sourcing reviews of 90s PC games is lost on any WPVG regular. The onus, however, is on the editor creating such difficult articles to provide adequate sourcing: not random Internet blogs, sites without editorial vetting, or press releases (primary sources), but citations to the 90s print media where that era's games would actually receive coverage. (This means relying on traditional library reference works and magazine indices.) It's easy to use the digital scarcity of 90s print sources to insinuate that it's very possible for sources to exist, but readers come to Wikipedia to read verifiable fact and we do not help them by creating reams of articles on individual games with very weak sourcing. More appropriately, we should be shooting for well-sourced series and overview articles, and let individual edutainment game articles spin out summary style from there. czar 08:24, 14 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
