Dorje Shugden

This article urgently needs some more expert eyes on it. See its talk page and discussion on the reliable sources noticeboard. I do hope there are people here who can help. Itsmejudith (talk) 11:38, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Merge names for Tibet?

Merge names for Tibet?

Three articles duplicate (sometimes word-for-word) discussion of the English, Chinese, and Tibetan words for "Tibet".

Merge? Since the first two pages are lengthy (currently 100 and 157 KB respectively), should the third be expanded? Perhaps renamed something like "Names and definitions of Tibet"? Keahapana (talk) 23:35, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:47, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Concerns about 'Tibetan Martial Arts'

The articles contained in Category:Tibetan martial arts share a number of problematic characteristics: they're largely unreferenced (or referenced only with web links to dojos purporting to teach these 'arts'), they make nebulous claims of ancient, Tibetan lineage, and many of them read like advertising materials for the art in question. Is there anyone here who has any experience with these specific traditions, or reliable sources for working with them? I've never seen mention of any of these traditions in sources dealing more generally with Tibet or Tibetan religious traditions (including Tibetan medicine), and I'm concerned that Wikipedia may be being used to propagate some dubious claims for commercial purposes. --Clay Collier (talk) 09:12, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

I agree on all points. I messed around with a couple articles a few years ago that even seemd to have made-up Tibetan names, meaning that they were falsified by somebody who couldn't even by bothered to find a real Tibetan word ... I don't remember the specifics.—Nat Krause(Talk! What have I done?) 04:57, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

DYK for Buddha's Birthday and Vesak

Hi, everyone. We have a DYK event for Buddha's Birthday and Vesak just like events for Christmas or April Fool's day. Many of Tibetan culture is based on Buddhism, so I think you guys can create/edit interesting Buddhist articles in upcoming five days. Once you create or five fold expand Buddhist related articles (famous temples, monks, movies, literature, paintings, foods, etc) within 5 days, and then nominate it to the below place. After a review, your article can be featured on the main page. So be hurry if you are interested. :) Thanks.

Dorje Shugden RfC

I've opened an RfC about a few issues related to the depiction of Dorje Shugden here in that article. Some input from people familiar with the issue would be helpful, given the controversy surrounding the topic. --Clay Collier (talk) 01:34, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Twelve Heavenly Generals

Quick question: Does the group of Twelve Heavenly Generals exist (as a group, not individual members) in Tibetan Buddhism? bamse (talk) 15:09, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Transliteration and Capitalization

I notice many people using Wylie transliteration in articles are improperly using capitalization. In his article specifying the scheme Wylie discouraged capitalization and said that where used the first letter or prefix should be capitalized not the root letter (which he calls the initial). So bka' rgyud and Bka' rgyud are correct in Wylie transliteration but not bKa' rgyud. See: Wylie_transliteration#Capitalization.

Changthang

The Changthang is an important region of Tibet covering 69% of tibet's land (I've just read), and stretching from Ladakh to Qinghai. It is a fascinating and unique area of nomads and wild spaces. Despite this the article has no information on the Changthang in the PRC, focusing exclusively on the parts now located in India. I'd love it if some folks could head over there and balance this out. I'm going to do a bit myself, but don't know how much I'll be able to do.--Keithonearth (talk) 18:05, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Very confusing article 'phang thang ma

Found this while working WP:UNCAT, and I can barely tell what it's about at all. Anyone want to take a stab at clarifying this article: 'phang thang ma ? MatthewVanitas (talk) 23:17, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing this up. I rewrote the intro. I think the article should move to Karchag Phangthangma, but the move feature seems to be busted for this article when I try to move it.—Nat Krause(Talk! What have I done?) 04:15, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Invasion of Tibet (1950–1951) → Invasion of Tibet

Invasion of Tibet (1950–1951) has been proposed to be renamed as Invasion of Tibet. see Talk:Invasion of Tibet (1950–1951)76.66.196.139 (talk) 06:54, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

British expedition to Tibet -> Younghusband expedition

I know it is a bit late, but several days ago I proposed to rename the British expedition to Tibet to Younghusband expedition, as the latter name seems more common and also less ambiguous. See Talk:British expedition to Tibet. Yaan (talk) 11:01, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
