I understand why not to use tags, but why do they even exist? --bjwebb 17:10, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I think they were invented for blind people, but they can help just to provide information and search engine spiders use them too--drak2 17:38, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, but why have them on wikipedia, if its against the style guide?
Oh! I'm sorry, I totally misunderstood you. I thought you meant alt-text. Yeah, I agree with you and have no idea :)--drak2

Timely organisation edit

This organisation of the photos into their respective categories is timely and wonderful. Kudos! Tomhongs 07:36, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Why thank you...pitty it'll all be deleted--drak2 08:24, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

It's staying for good edit

I'm glad this page is no longer up for deletion. Tomhongs 02:21, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The discussion hasn't actually been closed, but the page-move might make it moot. --Phil | Talk 09:00, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)
Wasn't the move meant to be to Wikipedia:WikiProject Harry Potter/Images? --Jotomicron | talk 12:22, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
It is there now--drak2 13:24, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Illustrators for the books by J.K. Rowling edit

dsaklad@zurich.csail.mit.edu 28 November 2005
a. Who are the illustrators for the books by J.K. Rowling?... including the illustrators for all the foreign editions around the world !

b. Where around the web are there links with information about or listings of the illustrators for the books by J.K. Rowling?... including the illustrators for all the foreign editions around the world !

Is fan art acceptable? edit

Is fan art acceptable for article images? Perhaps images should be avoided unless screenshots are available. I.E. characters that are in the Order of the Phoenix and the Half Blood Prince should not have an image on their articles because cannon images are not available. IMO no image is better for the quality of an article than plugging fan art for aesthetic purposes. Opinions? Vanessa kelly 23:24, 6 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I agree that aesthetic is not a good enough reason to justify non cannon images or data. Lag 18:14, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think that fan art should be accepted if it looks legitimate/contains accurate depictions and has been reviewed by other users. Andrew 18:16, 8 January 2008

Questions edit

Are there any specific things to edit in Wikiproject Harry Potter that doesn't involve Images? I'm rather useless at those. Duinemerwen 17:49, 22 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Maintenance edit

This project page is a little badly maintained. Some of the pages in the "need image" list already have pretty good images. Who updates this page? Duinemerwen 17:58, 22 January 2006 (UTC) You, Me, Anyone. I have just updated some entries. --Chewie 05:02, 12 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Taging images edit

I just tagged a bunch of images as being in the scope of this project. I hope that helps.--CJ King 20:22, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Added image edit

I added the Jo simpsons.jpg picture, but don't know where it was originally - any clues? SkierRMH 06:01, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do you mean its original title? Location on this project page? or location in Rowling's article? John Reaves 06:10, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Voldemort Images edit

The Voldemort page has way too many images. Anyone else think that at least Image:HP5-TL2-0078.jpg and Image:HP5-TL2-0079.jpg should be deleted? As it stands, we pretty much have an example of every occurrence of Voldemort in the films. -Phi*n!x 03:18, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Personally I think the page looks brilliant! However, I'm not at all sure that WP:NFC would agree, so you're right - we should probably restrict ourselves to one image from each film. More than one still from the Ministry or Graveyard scenes is, I agree, pushing it. And those are the two images I'd select to lose from that page if I had to. I'm bringing this discussion to the Voldemort discussion page. -Phi*n!x 00:51, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Trading card game image edit

I'd like to re-add an image to the Harry Potter Trading Card Game article, but need help setting up the reasoning of the fair use. The picture I would be using is a scan from the back of a card I own. Put help on my talk page. Thks Mathman1550 (talk) 23:01, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
