Minor edits edit

Was "minor edits" filtered there? I definitely am not in the top most active "med-authors" of ruwiki, but one of the most active counter-vand admins, so have many rollbacks in medicine articles. Stats is incorrect... OneLittleMouse (talk) 07:17, 5 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

User:OneLittleMouse Yes minor edits are counted. And yes you are likely one of the top editors of medical content. Reverting vandalism is essential. So you have my appreciation :-) Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 21:25, 5 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. But i meant that there are (are there?) more worthy users, consciously working with medicine articles (not just reverting vandalism), and the discarding of minor edits would help to select them more correctly. OneLittleMouse (talk) 05:26, 6 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

There are very few active medical Wikipedians even in English. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 14:46, 6 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

2016 rankings edit

@Doc James: I'm curious about this: do we have a page containing editor rankings by # of edits in medical articles on the English WP for 2016? Seppi333 (Insert ) 17:59, 24 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Not yet. Am hoping to get the data generated. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 18:02, 24 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Doc James: I am wondering that I am not in the 2016 list. In the German Wikipedia I did for sure more edits than the second half of the list. --Uwe Gille (talk) 10:03, 4 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

So User:Ladsgroup did the calculating. Basically we took all the EN medical articles, we than looked at all the articles that matched those articles based on language links from WikiData. We than calculated the number of edits to article space by various people from Jan 1st 2016 to Dec 31st 2016.
I will ask Ladsgroup to look into it. Here is the list it is based up[1]. User:Uwe Gille looking at how active you are I am not sure why you are not on the list? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 23:28, 4 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
One reason could be, that I work mostly on veterinary medicine and there are a lot of articles that are not in the English Wikipedia, yet. Wouldn`t it be easier and more reliable to use the contributions within the category medicine resp. its corresponding interwikis (in German: Kategorie:Medizin))? Uwe Gille (talk) 12:21, 5 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
We did this for all 275 languages in which WP has medical content. Agree would be more accurate to use Kategorie:Medizin with respect German. Many languages do not have categories which is why we chose this method. User:Ladsgroup can we rerun using the German category mentioned? 2020 rankings edit

@Doc James are there plans to continue tracking editor rankings for WikiProject Medicine? If so is there any way additional editors can help with compiling the results? Myoglobin (talk) 05:00, 25 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I've done the rankings for en wiki only here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Medicine/Stats/Top medical editors 2020 (en) Unfortunately as of 2020 cross wiki joins no longer work which makes doing the all wiki stats more difficult. Mvolz (talk) 11:23, 5 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

2021 rankings edit

I took the liberty of reaching out to User:Ladsgroup for this and they sent me this query: https://quarry.wmcloud.org/query/61226 It still needs filtering out the bots and such. I plan on working on the final list but just posting it here so everyone has access to it (and so it can be adjusted to do 2020 and future years as well!) unless User:Doc James still wants to be the one to do this (I assume these last two years has been particularly busy around this time with Delta last year and Omicron this year!) Mvolz (talk) 11:52, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

I've put the rankings for en wiki for 2021 here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Medicine/Stats/Top medical editors 2021 (en). However cross wiki joins, which I believe were used to do the all wikis query, are no longer possible to do on Quarry/with SQL, and I don't see myself working on it - if anyone else wants to pick it up feel free!
