Basehead GAN

Ummm, that's cherry picking! While someone technically could review the article (as long as they haven't edited it), I highly recommend against it. I looks bad for some involved editor to review it. You'll get a much better review from someone who's not an expert in the field. They'll see things morel like an average user will see it, unlike an expert. That will help the article in the long run. Any good article can be reassessed at any time, so you want it to be as good as possible so that any future GA review will pass easier (or maybe never have to happen!). The good news is that I looked at the article for less than a minute, and it does look reasonably detailed and cited to be nominated at GAN. I can peer review it if you want, but it won't count for GA. I always figure that the more eyes that look over an article, the better off it is! Royalbroil 01:03, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Andrew Osenga up for deletion

Just a friendly note- Andrew Osenga has been proposed for deletion. I looked for sources to justify removing the prod, but failed- if anyone can do it, it ought to be this WikiProject. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 09:51, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Request for comment on Biographies of living people

Hello Wikiproject! Currently there is a discussion which will decide whether wikipedia will delete 49,000 articles about a living person without references, here:

Since biographies of living people covers so many topics, many wikiproject topics will be effected.

The two opposing positions which have the most support is:

1. supports the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, User:Jehochman
2. opposes the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, except in limited circumstances, User:Collect

Comments are welcome. Keep in mind that by default, editor's comments are hidden. Simply press edit next to the section to add your comment.

Please keep in mind that at this point, it seems that editors support deleting unreferenced BLP articles if they are not sourced, so your project may want to source these articles as soon as possible. See the next, message, which may help.

Christian Music Wiki

Hey everybody. I would like to invite some of the editors here on Wikipedia that are involved in Christian Music related articles to particapate in a new project on Wikia focused entirely on Christian Music and other related topics called the Christian Music Wiki. The goal at the Christian Music Wiki is to create a Wikipedia-style encycolpedia dedicated to Christian bands (and band members), albums, songs, record labels, media publications and more. Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons

The WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons (UBLPs) aims to reduce the number of unreferenced biographical articles to under 30,000 by June 1, primarily by enabling WikiProjects to easily identify UBLP articles in their project's scope. There were over 52,000 unreferenced BLPs in January 2010 and this has been reduced to 32,665 as of May 16. A bot is now running daily to compile a list of all articles that are in both Category:All unreferenced BLPs and have been tagged by a WikiProject. Note that the bot does NOT place unreferenced tags or assign articles to projects - this has been done by others previously - it just compiles a list.

Your Project's list can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christian music/Unreferenced BLPs. As of May 17 you have approximately 27 articles to be referenced, a 12.9% reduction from last week. Great work! The list of all other WikiProject UBLPs can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons/WikiProjects.

Chart stuff

I dunno if this is where to put this or if you all already know it, but I found a website that could really help this project; normally, you have to pay to see the charts, but with this, you can see all the charts on Billboard.biz for free;

Whose charts are they? Billboard are the most respected and standardized charts and these are not them. We need to know what they're charting and where they get the information. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:52, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

These used to be Radio and Records charts, which were the absolute standard for CCM until the Hot Christian Songs chart came out in 2003; artists like Steven Curtis Chapman, Point of Grace, Avalon, and Phillips, Craig and Dean got most of their #1 singles from these charts, mainly the INSPO chart. In 2009, Billboard consolidated R&R, and the charts are currently on Billboard.biz as official Billboard charts. From what I can tell by searching the website these are on, it is either an exact duplicate of the R&R website or something else, as FAQ and About Us describe R&R in detail. The data comes from the Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems, the same thing Billboard uses. From what I can tell, it seems legit to me. Toa Nidhiki05 17:12, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Since R&R went out, there has been no standard chart worth anything. User:JamieS93 and I discussed this in January - and we are a whole country apart (Florida & Wisconsin). We agreed that Billboard's charts were not realistic according to what we were hearing on the radio. We have been using the Weekend 22 as the best available resource; they create their own chart based on national record spins. Weekend 22 used R&R until it ended. I feel much more confident in Nielsen's ability to use it as a standard although I'd like to do some research. Royalbroil 01:18, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

I agree with that; R&R's charts seemed more accurate to me. Notably, PC&D and Steven Curtis Chapman have only one #1 single combined on the chart since it came out, despite having over 60 combined under the R&R charts, and Avalon, which had 18 #1 singles under the R&R charts, has failed to even chart under the Billboard one. Regardless of this site's value, it seems legit, and I've been using it to update songs for a few weeks now. Toa Nidhiki05 13:57, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

To address historical concerns, how many #1 singles has Evie had on the Billboard charts? The fact that she's not even recording any longer is the reason she's not charting any longer along with many previous #1 chart holders. The fact that PC&D, Steven Curtis Chapman, and others who were radio favourites in the nineties are n longer charting well is not the fault of Billboard. Christian music articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We would like to ask you to review the Christian music articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. Christianity portals

I am currently trying to get together some lists of articles relevant to each Christianity-related portal which could be used, at least potentially, to help bring all the extant portals up to Featured Portal status. The current, admittedly incomplete, list of articles, images, etc., relevant to each portal can be found at User:John Carter/Christianity portals. I also think that, at least in theory, we would probably best use a single article only in a single portal, and that we probably have enough articles to do that, although there might be a few exceptions. I would welcome input from anyone on the associated talk page regarding which articles and other materials they would like to see associated with which portal(s), any suggestions for additional portals or changes to existing portals, etc. Thank you. Requesting assistance with Charismatic Christianity importance/priority ratings

I believe one of the reasons that this project may have received less attention from the Christianity project in the past is that much of the relevant material from that project falls within the scope of Wikipedia:WikiProject Charismatic Christianity, and that project had had, until recently, remarkably incomplete assessments. I think all the relevant articles are now assessed for quality; unfortunately, I, as an individual, am not at all sure as to what importance or priority assessment to give the articles.
