Proposal

Sometimes an article desperately needs to be cleaned up, but the subject of the article only has a limited "audience", and so it may take awhile for it to be seen by someone who can do something with it. I was wondering if we might be able to set up some sort of "message board", or something similar, where people can post requests for WikiFairies to check out an article and see what they can do with it. I know that there's a link on the main article to a list of people who identify themselves as WikiFairies, but I don't feel right directly contacting someone who doesn't know me and asking that person specifically to help me out, so it would be nice to explain what's going on with an article and hope that someone will take it upon themselves to help out. Since I'm already typing this proposal, I might as well explain the situation that prompted this idea. Meryn Cadell was born female, and had a music career. Over the course of 2 years, "she" underwent gender reassignment, and is now a "he" [1]. There is currently no mention of the gender change in the article, and I don't feel confident as an editor to make such a major edit. Also, the issue that started me noticing this is that the gender pronouns in the article have been edited back-and-forth more times than I can count. I'm not sure if the problem is that people don't realize that he was once a she, or if there's some rigid standard that they're following which states that an article must identify someone as male or female from beginning to end, with no switches or grey area. The Wendy Carlos article manages to dodge this issue by avoiding gender pronouns for everything before 1972 (when he became a she). - Ugliness Man 14:50, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
