Sister projects - Commons edit

Dunno if it'll mess up your system here, but I also use

 {{userbox
   |id-c=lightblue
   |info-c=lavender
   |id=[[Image:Commons-logo.svg|30px]]
   |info=This user is a '''[[Commons:|Commoner]]'''.
 }}

which gives this:

 This user is a Commoner.

Personally I think this is nicer than the one you have at the moment, others may or may not agree. pfctdayelise 16:26, 17 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Symbols restored. The other images had small texts under them that couldn't be read at that size anyway. - TCorp 21:13, 17 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Content-Free, Perhaps? edit

Would it be a crime to add this?

This person is a user of both Wikipedia and Uncyclopedia and is careful not to confuse the two.

It applies to me, and some other people too, I'm sure. After all, I enjoy adding quality and factuality to Wikipedia but also have a funnier side. So, is it funny and not stupid? -Gracenotes T § 23:17, 24 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

No harm in adding this. A little humour is needed in Wikipedia as well. --Siva1979Talk to me 15:51, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Blocked User Box edit

I made this out of irritation one night. The concept is pretty simple: each additional time you get blocked, you increase the number. Just putting it out there for constructive criticism.

Zidel333 07:26, 5 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

:-( This user has been blocked a total of Insert Number Here times '.

Probably not a good idea. Encourages users to violate Wikipedia policy so that they will be blocked and up their "tally". Being blocked should not be treated as a red badge of courage the same way having your userpage vandalized currently is by many people. Not only does it make being banned seem like "not a big deal" (when you visit a lot of users' pages and see how many have been banned several times you'll stop thinking of banning as a serious affair), but it also encourages repeat offenses so you can get a larger number and impress other users with your "battle-scars" (wikiwounds?). For the same reason, a tally of how many users you've banned is also a terrible idea, as it encourages overuse and abuse of administrative privileges to garner a higher "score". You'll probably have a much easier time custom-making and pasting the code onto your userpage rather than making an actual template for this, at least for now. -Silence 08:56, 5 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lots of Cats edit

There are tons of categories at the bottom of the project page. Are all of them really needed? I know they're connected to the Uboxes, but I'm sure they can be gotten rid of. Jfingers88 03:48, 4 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Did You Know 2 edit

I made the userbox functional, but it displays wrong on this page. Would someone please fix it to display properly like the others. I can't figure it out. Royalbroil 13:21, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

All Wiki Projects edit

Quite a few editors have pages in all the Wiki projects. This userbox groups all the projects together.

Boxes displaying incorrectly here edit

A lot of user boxes don't display corectly here because of punctuation and other code (especially braces) in the markup language. I corrected a few of the boxes: 3 000e, 4 000e, 100 000e, and email. These boxes now display correctly on both user pages and here. When I have the time I'll go through the remaining boxes that don't display correctly and fix the punctuation. Casey Abell 14:04, 7 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Done. All boxes now display correctly here and on user pages. Casey Abell 16:18, 7 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Spoiler tags edit

This user is against adding spoiler tags to articles because wikipedia is not censored.

I created this userbox because it pertains to the current Wikipedia policy debate at Wikipedia:Spoiler warning. It can currently be found at User:Axem Titanium/User nospoilertags. I suppose a box representing the neutral and pro- stances would be appropriate as well. Does this merit addition to Wikipedia:Userboxes/Wikipedia? Axem Titanium 04:55, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Maybe better to cite WP:NDT instead, it's more relevant. (it also mentions the specific exception for spoilers, but the point is being opposed to it being a special case) --Random832(tc) 04:22, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair Use Template edit

I created two templates recently. One supporting the use of fair use in the contrast of a previous one saying that it should be never used, and one saying how the user prefers using fair use images over GFDL ones if it is of a higher quality.

Minutes after I posted them, they were deleted. In my talk page, someone wrote that my "preference of fair use over GFDL content is not really appreciated here" and the person deleting them accused me of personally insulting them because I had used a preexisting template to work off on. I always use a preexisting template to work off on. My Template:User DarkTower, for example, was based off of Template: User SK.

Secondly, I created it to show two different opinions of the argument, as many others have done with other templates. The GFDL one I won't put back on but I believe that the Fair Use one should stay. Removing it because you don't agree with it is NPOV.--CyberGhostface 14:07, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I added back the GFDL one this time in a more NPOV manner. The Wiki userboxes all show a wide range of opinions. Mine were done in a polite manner expressing mine and many others' views. Just because it has the same color as a preexisting template doesn't mean I am trying to attack them. Its just to show that its in the same 'category' like how all the Lord of the Rings userboxes all have the same colors and fonts and whatnot.--CyberGhostface 20:20, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Other Userboxes, short form edit

I've created other userboxes that mark that a person has a userpage on a sister wiki. But, mine not only allow a person to hardcode in the username, if they're putting the userbox on a subpage in userspace, a click on the image will take a person to the appropriate homepage of the sister wiki -- so that people used to such from normal web browsing will be able to travel directly to the sister wiki. My "short forms" are the WNUP (WikiNews UserPage), etc., that you can see on the project page here. Banaticus 01:33, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unstubbed DYK? edit

Well, I recently got my first article to DYK?, but I realised that the current userbox is not suited to me, because I unstubbed the article, not created it. So, I created User:J Milburn/Userboxes/Unstubbed DYK?. Do you think this should be moved here? Just a couple of words different from the original, but I am using it, so I suppose others may want to. In The News? edit

A fact from the article name, which this user created or significantly contributed to, has been featured in the Did you know... section on the Main Page.

How about a version of this for those who have contributed to Template:In the news? Ekantik talk 03:18, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

{{BASEPAGENAME}} edit

Shouldn't all Sister project user pages link to the user and not the subpage? Can we change it to BASEPAGENAME instead of PAGENAME?--The preceding comment was signed by User:Sp3000 (talkcontribs) 09:35, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia awards edit

I spotted this page: User:DBD/Userboxes/Wikipedia, whilst nosing around one day, and I thought DBD has created an excellent set of userboxes relating to the Editor Service Awards. I don't know if one can "nominate" another Users' Userboxes for inclusion on the main Wikipedia Userboxes list, but I certainly thought that it would be a sound idea. --Legis (talk - contribs) 08:17, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikiladders edit

Would anyone be willing to create a userbox honoring wikiladders-the Wikipedia version of '7 degrees of seperation from Kevin Bacon'? I'd do it myself, but it took me nearly an hour just to figure out how to insert userboxes in the first place.LeeRamsey (talk) 03:37, 27 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
