Notes

OK. Conquasabit has been up here as the collaboration article for several days. What is it? I only found it as part of a Latin phrase from Mozart - " conquasabit capita in terra multorum." (and scatter heads on many lands) from Vesperae solennes de Confessore K. 339. Rmhermen 14:39, Oct 19, 2004 (UTC)

Could we just change this to U.S. colloboration of the week? I'm really not sure the Northeastern U.S. needs to be separated out, and I think there's a lot more to focus on if we extend the reach of this COTW...Not to mention I'm reluctant to divide the country into quarters for COTW. I think the South is sort of a special funky case, but West-Midwest-North-South is kinda crazy.

A fine idea, at least until it gets unreasonably large. But I don't think lack of material is holding anyone back; the specificity of a particular region can make it easier to focus on one big gap at a time. +sj+
I created the Southern version because I felt there were many Southern-related articles that needed to be tended to. I never knew the North was regarded in popular culture and whatnot like the South has been. I mean, you never hear of Northern folklore and literature and all that. Mike H 10:47, Oct 21, 2004 (UTC)
And you want to perpetrate this burial of Northern folklore and culture? I see how it is. The devil go down to ye, then. +sj+ 15:25, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)
It doesn't. This page serves no purpose. [[User:Davodd|DAVODD «TALK»]] 02:46, Oct 23, 2004 (UTC)
Pow, who whizzed in his morning coffee? Every region of the US is sorely lacking in coverage. I agree with jen that having a US-wide collaboration is a good place to start, but I don't think it is lack of interesting subject matter that is holding anyone back. +sj+
I'm sorry? What harm is this page possibly doing to Wikipedia? Since there is no notice board for the full US, but there's one for the South, why shouldn't the North have a board? Also, the traditional North is usually restricted to states in the northeastern portion of the country. Rhobite 04:38, Oct 23, 2004 (UTC)

Northern?

Judging by the map, this should be northeastern. States not included on the map: Alaska, Washinton, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota and Michigan have boundaries that reach farther north than Maine. [[User:Davodd|DAVODD «TALK»]] 00:21, Oct 21, 2004 (UTC)

I don't like it much myself, but there's a long history to that classification. And if you like that kind of spat, there are even juicier ones in Europe and Asia just waiting to be revived. +sj+

Incidentally, I notice you have Salt Lake City on the to-do list. As this is my hometown, residence, and a topic I've contributed many articles around, I was wonderin' if I'm Northern in the relevant sense. None of you all seem to be west of the midwest. Cool Hand Luke 08:23, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)

DYK

The DYK section featured on the main page is always looking for interesting new and recently expanded stubs from different parts of the world. Please make a suggestion.--Peta 02:12, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

An Invitation from the Philippine Wikipedia Community

Hello folks,

The Philippine Wikipedia Community will be holding its 1st Meet-up in Cebu City (the fourth one in the Philippines) on June 23-24, 2008. This coincides with the first Philippine Open Source Summit, also to be held in Cebu. The Philippine Wikipedia Community is an Implementing Partner of the Open Source Summit. We invite you to join us in this event. If you are in the IT or IT-enabled services industry, this would be a great opportunity to meet people from the 4th best outsourcing city in the world. This is also a good excuse to visit our beautiful beaches :)

If you're interested in joining the Wikipedia meet-up, please join our discussion. You can register for the Open Source Summit here. If you would like some assistance with local accomodations, you may email User:Bentong Isles.

Merge three noticeboards

I have started a proposal to merge three United States related Noticeboards into one due to all three having no, or extremely limited activity, in the last year. I believe this will invigorate the noticeboard if we keep any of them at all. I propose merging:

into

Please provide comments here (including support or oppose). Comments are necessary to ensure that this does not intefere with ongoing efforts. If no comments are received in 7 days I will assume there is no problem and proceed with the merger. --Kumioko (talk) 19:39, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
