Wikipedia talk:List of infoboxes/Proposed/Infobox Artist's Books and Multiples

To do list edit

Some initial suggestions:

  • A Shorter more memorable template name ?
  • Can you suggest a few articles where this infobox might be used ? It would allow us to look to see what sort of values might be entered for the various parameters.
  • Is there an associated Category list of articles to which this infobox might apply (gives some idea as to how widely used it will become, hence how specific to a few articles vs generalised & tolerant to a lot of articles)
  • What is teh meaning and purpose of the vatrious parameters: are the all needed, are the parameter names well chosen, are there additional parameters that might/should be added ?

  • Artists' books would be just as good, since multiples are a sub-category, really. The difference with artists' and normal books is that artists books are works of art; often printed in small editions, and usually kept in libraries and museums. The main reason i wanted an info box was to provide information on how many were made, how big they are, and where copies could be seen. The point of the series of articles i'm writing is to create an imaginary library of artists' books that either encourage people to seek out the real thing, or useing descriptive enough prose to make them feel like they have seen them anyway. These works are as highly influential as they are highly obscure. A digital library seems the way to go.
  • Dimanche Literaturwurst Linee Yves: Peintures An Anna Blume Mémoires Une Semaine de Bonté Corpo d'aria I've written all but the Max Ernst one, and am hoping some friends will add a few more. I have loads more pages in the pipeline, covering good examples of the most important and influential books and multiples from the last 100 years. I was inspired by the discographies that started to appear a few years ago listing individual records.
  • There are already artwork boxes and book boxes; neither of which are suitable. I think the parameters are simply artists books and multiples, but that is, potentailly, a huge field containing thousands of important examples. See Artist's book
  • Artist, date, size of edition, movement; I think it's all there in the box. I wanted a handy box too hold the sort of information, such as size, that would be awkward to include in the text, but that emphasises the work's physicality. If you can think of others, please do.

I think that covers it. Cheers!!Franciselliott (talk) 06:55, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
