European Society in the 18th Century:

-Community: You maintained a certain status through social order and status was given through default. Having land was the most important thing to own of that time period. You were usually given land mostly by the king but could earn it through farming or trading.[1]

-Economy: Again, land is important to society and is often controlled by the elite. Still at this time many peasants worked for the elite but in the case of France and Britian they had the right to be free of this as serfdom was destroyed. Yet, the elite still owned most of the land.[2]

Disestablishment edit

"American Viscose operated from 1910 to 1976, when it was renamed Avtex. Avtex closed in 1990." What disestablishment date should be used in the category, 1976 or 1990? --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 14:37, 28 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Jean Fonteneau edit

There was a sixteenth century navigator and explorer, named Jean Fonteneau. He was a colleague of Cartier, and explored the coast of North America.

He was known as Jean Fonteneau de Saintonge, the same town that Cartier was from.

He did sail for a time for the Portuguese. People partisan for Portugal claim him as a Portuguese explorer. The wikipedia article for him has him as Jean Alfonse, and describes him as a Portuguese explorer. I corrected this article, with citations, and was revert edited by a Portuguese person with a personal agenda.

I would have revert edited it back, but did not want to get attacked for doing that.

This wikipedia article is a lie. I hope some people can correct it to have an accurate history and not a lie. 129.133.151.149 (talk) 04:50, 27 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
