Creation of an rcat for "to an article"

I want a redirect category for a redirect "to a valid article". I've come across a lot of article titles which hosted articles (un-reffed or not) and get deleted, but are morphed (pop culture word for transformed) into excellent feature article candidate. Take this page link as an example to a proposed deleted article that was merged into the bigger article that I've just redirected to its current official name. I think that deserves at least a redirect category, don't you think?! Intrisit (talk) 14:05, 27 June 2022 (UTC)

If you are seeking an {{rcat}} of a page that was deleted but could be an article, that sounds like {{R with possibilities}}. Local Variable (talk) 11:26, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
@Local Variable: That rcat may not be vague to you — but it is to me! If I'm rather vague to you with my reply, it's clarified as this: an article title with an article which got deleted from either review or CSD, but can/could link to the same article target, but with a different name. Or it's still the same??! That rcat is broad but vague! I await your reply; in the interim, I'll ask an admin for clarification. Intrisit (talk) 11:52, 28 June 2022 (UTC)

Category for redirects following a split

List of ports in England and Wales was split into List of ports in England and List of ports in Wales. I've redirected the old title to Lists of ports#National and sub-national lists which serves as an index to both new lists, but I'm not sure what the best category for it is? {{R with history}} doesn't seem appropriate as all the history is now at the England list following a page move. You have successfully pinged me, but I don't understand why? Thryduulf (talk) 20:58, 9 April 2023 (UTC)

John Rhodes (baseball)

Hello: I'm not sure this is the correct place for this request, but I would like to know how to fix this problem:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:200_births

This currently show John Rhodes (baseball) as a redirect to the 200 births category (the article title is italicized); he is a modern baseball player born in the year 2000; how do I fix the redirect so that it goes to the appropriate birth year category (2000 births)? Thanks for any help you can provide. --FeanorStar7 (talk) 09:14, 3 August 2023 (UTC)

Hi @FeanorStar7: You can just change the relevant line of the redirect code to
[[Category:2000 births]]
Categorization of redirects as regards years of birth/death doesn't differ from categorization of articles, and does not require any of the redirect templates. Dsuke1998AEOS (talk) 11:59, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
@Dsuke1998AEOS, thanks very much. How do I actually make the change in the article itself?; it redirects to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_Orioles_minor_league_players#John_Rhodes
which is part of a listing of players. Thanks again. FeanorStar7 (talk) 12:08, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
When you enter "John Rhodes (baseball)" in the search box, you will be taken to the target article. Just click on the "(Redirected from John Rhodes (baseball)" message that pops up at the top of the article and make the changes I described above. Dsuke1998AEOS (talk) 12:19, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
Thanks very much. I just fixed it. FeanorStar7 (talk) 21:59, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
