Too much header edit

Nearly a screen and a half of stuff before I even get to the featured article text on my laptop screen. That's way, way too much header. Phil Sandifer (talk) 04:49, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Interesting edit

Neat ideas. The grouping of featured stuff in one set, events in another makes sense. Hadn't thought of it. I agree with the above comment that the whole first screen could go away. Nice work organizing the Wikimedia part, too. —SusanLesch (talk) 04:49, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Most of the HTML was from soxred93's proposal, I just did some tweaking. I know it's a LOT for that first screen, maybe it could be hidden and clicking 'show' would expand it, I just thought the point of this was that people wanted an 'about Wikipedia' section to be prominent AND wanted to snaz up the main page's HTML, which is what I tried to accomplish.
