Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes America/2013/New Brunswick, NJ

Wikipedia Takes New Brunswick, NJ is part of Wikipedia Takes America and Wiki Loves Monuments in the US would be on Saturday, September 21, 2013, or Sunday, September 22, 2013 (if you'd rather take pictures on Sunday). (Maybe we should have a vote on Saturday vs. Sunday.) It is a photo scavenger hunt in which people take pictures of stuff in New Brunswick, NJ. Meetup would be at the train station at 10:30 am; then people would come to the New Brunswick Free Public Library on Livingston Ave. at 3:30 pm, where people might be able to upload their stuff to Wikipedia. (If this is not feasible, we might attempt to do something with Rutgers, or else give people info on how to upload pictures from computers elsewhere.)

Some potential locations:

  • The Vue
  • Old Queen's, Rutgers University
  • Other important Rutgers buildings
  • Grease trucks. They may have moved, but they're going to be back in business, in all likelihood.
  • Monument Square/State Theatre/The Heldrich
  • Johnson and Johnson HQ
  • Boyd Park, by the river.
  • The Raritan River itself
  • The Delaware and Raritan Canal
  • Bloustein/Mason Gross building
  • City Hall and Middlesex County Courthouse
  • New Brunswick Train Station
  • Bucceleuch Mansion
  • Date and start time: Would September 21 be ok with you?
A suggested time is 12 noon on Saturday September 21, but you can pick differently based on local conditions.
  • Starting point: New Brunswick Station?
Pick a starting point for the day, probably outside near a downtown landmark. Greet everyone and explain how it all works. Bring a Wikipedia sign or something similar for recognition!
  • After-party place and time (optional): Timulty's or Stuff yer Face, maybe. (you suggest something)
Optionally, designate a cozy spot for an after-party in the evening, can be a bar or restaurant. If you can upload some photos there too, all the better.
