This course is for graduate audiology students who are studying hearing loss prevention in the context of exposure to hazardous noise levels in the environment and workplace. The course covers anatomy & physiology of noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL), regulatory requirements in the workplace and strategies to prevent NIHL. The students use wikipedia to explore a topic area in more depth, especially as it relates to specific occupations or hobbies that may expose people to hazardous levels of noise. The ultimate goal is to train students to utilize Wikipedia to enhance the science content related to their profession of audiology in a broader context with the hope that they will use this skill to continue editing pages as professionals in the future. This effort will provide the public with evidence-based resources related to hearing loss prevention and intervention.
