This course will serve as an introductory course on the effects of noise and hearing conservation. While most students will not go on to specialize in occupational audiology, the concepts of hearing loss prevention are vital and should be at the core of an audiology training program. Regardless of work setting, audiologists should be knowledgeable about best practices for hearing loss prevention in order to educate and promote hearing health to all individuals. The course focuses on the assessment/measurement of noise, federal/state hearing conservation program regulatory requirements, best practices for hearing loss prevention programs, and preventative techniques including hearing protection devices.
