Wikipedia:WikiProject Tropical cyclones/Assessment/Timeline of the 2001 Atlantic hurricane season

Archived discussion. Current status: {{B-Class}}

I know this needs some toning up before being taken to FLC again, but it should be ready for A-Class according to this. If you don't think it meets the criteria for A-Class, please state suggestions to improve the timeline to such a level, rather than explicitly opposing the upgrade. --Dylan620 (Homeyadda yadda yaddaOoooohh!) 00:35, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Add " This timeline documents all the storm formations, strengthening, weakening, landfalls, extratropical transitions, as well as dissipation. The timeline also includes information which was not operationally released, meaning that information from post-storm reviews by the National Hurricane Center, such as information on a storm that was not operationally warned on, has been included." (just edit this page and copy between the quotes) to the end of the first paragraph. Also, remove the first sentence, I don't think that's what's used in the timelines. (edit conflict) First: Is everything in the previous FLC taken care of?
Secondly:
  • If I didn't know what a hurricane was, I would never find out, because there's no piped link to tropical cyclone in the lede.
  • The 2001 Atlantic hurricane season was an above-average Atlantic hurricane season — redundant
  • Hurricane Iris was, in terms of wind speed, the strongest storm of the season. — a link to maximum sustained wind would be nice in here
  • The storm made landfall in Belize as a Category 4 hurricane, — wtf is Category 4? (Yes, I know what it is, but you have to assume that the reader doesn't. replace it with The storm made landfall in Belize as a [[Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale#Category 4|Category 4]] hurricane in the [[Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale]].
  • Add inflated damage costs to the 2001 USD figures.
  • All three storms had their names retired by the WMO the following spring,[5] and were replaced in the 2007 season by Andrea, Ingrid, and Melissa, respectively. — ambiguous antecedent here. Also, add a link to Tropical cyclone naming#Retirement.
  •   Done thanks to you, Tito. I was able to link to the retirement myself. --Dylan620 Contribs Sign! 16:06, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not that far off from A-Class. P.S.: We know what the criteria are, and we ignore inactionable and unsupported opposes, so there's no need to remind us... Titoxd(?!? - cool stuff) 00:54, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good to me Dylan - Support Jason Rees (talk) 05:20, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't find any references to support what names were chosen to replace the ones retired after 2001. BTW, after reading through the season summary, I found that no operationally unnoticed storms were discovered in post-season analysis. --Dylan620 Contribs Sign! 21:20, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Support great article, I wish I could make something that good :D --Irmela 22:33, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I still can't support as the issues addressed by Tito have not been fixed. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 22:45, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Irmela, thank you very much! As for you, Cyclonebiskit, expect the issues to be addressed by the end of the day on Sunday. --Dylan620 Contribs Sign! 23:05, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I massaged it a bit further. You may find a list of retired names here, by the way. Titoxd(?!? - cool stuff) 01:12, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dylan now that the timeline bugs been fixed make sure you replace that image with the proper coding Jason Rees (talk) 02:04, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Have the issues raised by Tito been addressed? –Juliancolton Happy Holidays 13:57, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I did the best I could to address the issues. Tito wrapped up the effort with a copyedit. I'll go through the list, and check it twice to make sure all the raised concerns have been addressed. --Dylan620 Contribs Sign! 14:19, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For the most part, they are. I haven't checked if the FLC concerns have been, though. Titoxd(?!? - cool stuff) 02:15, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
