Limassol Crusaders edit

I have created and updated this page on one of the three civilian teams in Cyprus. I accept it is probably of low importance, but still want to get it as good as I can, this is the first team related page I have created on wikipedia. Cyprus is an emerging rugby nation and development of the sport on the island is progressing rapidly, especially since the national team broke the world record for consecutive international wins. Comments from Shudde

Had a look at the article. The importance doesn't matter as long as the side is notable. The "importance" scale is only intended for editors that want to decide how to prioritise their time and edits; obviously not many people use it in this way! I have some comments:

  • The article doesn't have any independent secondary references. This could be a real problem if the notability of this page was challenged. Has there been any coverage in the Cyprus media about the side? Obviously being only the second rugby club in the country makes them a bit of a novelty - have they been covered by any media outside of Cyprus? Even if not in English this would be useful.
  • "Joint Services Rugby League" -- you might want to expand on what exactly this is. When I first read it I thought it was referring to rugby league, but now I realise it was referring to a rugby union league competition.
  • "In 2013, the Crusaders moved to a new stadium in the Mesa Geitonia area of Limassol. The new stadium has a higher capacity, better drainage and confirms better to IRB safety regulations." - a citation for this would be good.
  • An image of the senior side playing would be great.
  • I would recommend changing the citation style to something similar to {{Cite web}} -- even if it doesn't use a template. An accessed date for the website would be valuable, especially if the link does dead in the future.
  • The article could obviously do with an expansion in most areas. History (formation, playing history). More information on their stadium. Coaches. Are the team professsional, semi-professional, amateur etc? According to the squad list many of the players are not from Cyprus - does the team include a lot of expatriates?

That's all I have at the moment. My main concern is the lack of independent sources and media coverage. - Shudde talk 09:37, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks from Fork Me

Thanks a lot for that quick feedback, you've given me some ideas to work on. The team have had some match reports in the Cypriot press, but not much publicity other than that. I will correct citations, and look for other sources, there may be some on the CRF homepage that I can link to. The expansion ideas I will work on over the next few days. Thanks again. --Fork me (talk) 18:16, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
