edit this panel

You can make a player article, like below. This is just a blue print, it is not definitive, and shouldn't hold you back. If you wish to be bold and differ from this, by all means do so.

Lead edit

  • Should include a summary of the player and article.
  • A deceased player ought have birth and death dates included here and might be referred to as "was a (nationality) rugby league footballer".
  • Living former players should have their birth year in the lead and be referred to as "is a (nationality) rugby league footballer or former rugby league footballer". Perhaps the position he regularly played at would be referred to.
  • Only his career high-point detail should be included in the lead "he played 100 games for the XX Lions between 19xx and 19xx, winning 2 premierships" or "he played in 10 Tests and 10 World Cup games for his country between 20xx and 20xx"

Infobox edit

  • Use the following template: {{Infobox rugby league biography}}
  • A player's height and weight should be kept as up-to-date as possible during his career. When a player retires, insert "retired=yes", and leave the player's height and weight as the most recently sourced height and weight.

Biography edit

Early career edit

  • Information from his place of birth, through to the year prior to his first grade debut

Year edit

  • Replace Year with the year that player entered first grade debut
  • Add information about his first grade career in that time

Year/Period Two edit

  • Replace the year or period with the next period of first
  • Have information on each section, instead of having a single year you may want several years if the information is stubby

Year ... so on edit

  • Until his first grade career is over.
  • Summarise his total number of grade playing years, games and points scored.

Representative career edit

  • Refer to his international debut game and date, his total number of internationals distinguishing between Tests, World Cup games and other international fixtures.
  • Points scored or records set in his international career can be distinguished from those of his club career.

Post playing edit

  • Information on his post career of his life. If the player has a notable post playing career (eg. becomes a coach/commentator or whatever) you may want to break this into years again.
  • Do not add it if the player is a current player.

Personal life edit

  • This section is optional, but should include information on life other than league.

Sources or references edit

  • Cite your references
    • Use Author surname, first name (Year published) Name of Book, Publisher, City. Do not include the full street address of the publisher.
  • When using websites that do not get automatically archived, such as official club websites, it is preferable to manually archive the source yourself so that it does not later become a deadlink. www.webcitation.org is a free manual archiving service.

Footnotes edit

  • Add footnotes to specific pages of your reference or to other sources to reference any quoted disputable fact and also to justify any claims or assertions that include an assessment of performance or comparison to other players.

External links edit

Navboxes edit

  • Add navboxes in order starting with top level clubs, followed by internationals, then personal achievements or awards, then non top level rugby league and youth level.
