Irish Women in STEM Editathon - Ada Lovelace Day 2014

The Science Gallery at the Naughton Institute, Pearse Street, Trinity College, Dublin 2 (nearest station Pearse) hosted an editathon on Sunday 2nd November 2014 from 2pm, to improve Wikipedia articles about the Irish Women in STEM. This free public event was organised by Wikimedia Ireland Community, with Rebecca O'Neill as lead trainer with logistical support from Wikimedia UK, and supported by Women in Science and Technology (WITS).

All were welcome, no editing experience is necessary and the event is free.

How to Prepare

  1. Sign up for the event via Eventbrite
  2. CREATE A WIKIPEDIA ACCOUNT (if you don't already have one)

Please set up an account before the event if at all possible. Very few details are needed: a Username, password, and we recommend giving your email, if only to be reminded of your password when you forget it. The short Wikipedia:Tutorial/Registration explains why this is a good idea.

If you like, you can also learn a little about editing ahead of time here: w:en:Wikipedia:Tutorial, or see Getting started on Wikipedia for more information

To participate you will need to bring along a laptop or tablet, WIFI will be provided.

Women in STEM resources

  • Please feel free to bring along some of books so that there will be a variety of reference books

Note: Wikipedia pages that include lists of important women are all missing plenty of key people, so feel free to add to those lists
